think u could take a hacksaw to the stock shifter and make it shorter?? it wouldnt be shorter Gear to gear but appearance wise it would look better...so????

Throw it hard and it will come off in your hand! The way I shortend yours is the only way to do it.

I don't know how hard the steel is on the shift lever, but you could use a die set to re-thread it. Although I consider doing it akin to cutting the factory springs, and I would never do it on my car, I am curious to find out how it goes.

Tje top half of the shift lever is a holow tube the threads would have to be at least 1/2" in diameter so that throws out the stock shift knob and most aftermarket knobs don't have a bushing that wide. Thue you could probably do the JB weld and tighten teh set screws to the point that the allen heads are ready to strip but I wouldn't sugest it. It will most likely still wobble loose.

When I put on a new boot I cut part of the threads off to fit the new handle well I got sick of it poping off and I screwed the old one back on it looks a lot better and still holds damn well I took off about 3/4 inch.
