Driving to my girlfriends and an auto-x event i came around a curve and an explorer was scraping down the side of another car sideways...

i couldn't avoid it...

time to get another 3g. i guess the worse part is the collar bone. i rember steve broke this and it took a while to heal.

do those cars have breakaway motormounts? your hood is where your engine should be. if so, you should be thankful for that because that engine could have landed in your lap.

i'm glad to see that as a whole, you're ok. the gashes will heal up pretty quickly, but the collarbone won't be exactly fun.

one thing they don't tell you about seatbelts is that even if worn properly, they themselves can cause broken collarbones. while that makes you not want to wear one, wrecks like this are an example of why you should wear one.

No... The engine must go under the F*** car. not in the wind sheald.

Umm, that's what breakaway motor mounts do. They break and your engine falls to the ground, that way it doesn't get pushed into your torso.

lostforawhile
03-01-2007, 07:19 PM
they don't always break, the chassis is designed to bend a certain way to make the motor go down. the top of the frame rails are weaker in certain sections so the frame tends to go down and back. if they just broke the engine might still get shoved back, the frame actually bends and forces it down.

Hey we have one of those, we have an 89. They are very reliable little trucks. We've replaced nothing major, but they do seem to have a problem with the windows coming off track a bit.

Well no i don't have the ability to get anything off the civic, so no clock sorry zack :( but! they took my Vx wheels too, and ... i think the car is about this ____ tall now, in otherwords it's prolly crushed :(

The truck has a 2.8L V6, i'm thinking about a 350 swap soon, but the 4.3L looks decent aswell, i dunno the 350 is more complex but i'm just glad it gets me places, and safely :) it also has manual windows and door locks does your 89? My tailgate is off an S-10 :) so we joke around and call it the S15.0 or the S15/10 or the GMchevy...

I'll get pix later...

IMO 4.3 swap wouldnt even be worth it....with a decent 350 swap you dhave more power and get slightly worse MPG.

Yeah the 89 has manual windows...it seems the tracks or actually the pieces holding the windows in place (plastic clips) seem to break extremely easily, and we've lost 1 complete window and had about 4 clips break since we've had the truck. So in about 1 and a half years. We have the 4 cyl version though, thats the only diff. A 350 is excellent in these little trucks, and you'll be burning rubber and blowind by the competition in no time. Plus they are pretty decently priced, so you won't break the bank. I don't know if you're into lowere truck, but I have a 91 Toyota Pickup, and the square bodystyle of the gmc/chevys s15/s10s appeal a little more to me with these trucks slammed.

Okay cool, yeah i'm thinking 350 anyways :) but i tried both windows yesterday even though it's freezing :( they work fine just when you roll the drivers side up it makes a crunch if you wind it too far, but i don't think it's gonna hurt anything, i'm looking into parts for the truck now, i also will be getting another check sometime within the next 6 months hopefully, then i'll prolly have a 3g thinking Lx-i hatch w/a K swap ;) lol j/k prolly B swap we'll see how much $ i get will depend on the swap really, but i'm not going to drive a small car on open roads, we're talking track car only :D
