ok shepard i saw that you did a cold air intake with a bypass filter.

i live in cleveland so the weather here always sucks will i have trouble
with a cold air intake?

does the bypass suck in hot air into the engine?

i got my stainless 2 inch exhaust with a magnaflow muffler

sounds great now i need to get the air in.

also i saw that ppl are putting a high voltage coil

will that help me at all

the coil will smooth out the idle

yeah coil just smooths out idle and keeps a nice even spark at high RPMs....the cold air intake will just give you some top end...i lost a bit of low end after puting my CAI on.

dude the A20 is one torquy engine...i mean you have 2.0L its better than civics with 1.6.....plus i have alot of mods like adjustable cam gear and its adjusted for top end....it pull hard...i still have plenty of low end if i work the clutch a bit.

1. you should be fine with CAI and bypass filter. make sure you get a real bypass filter from AEM. other ones just suck hot air all the time. AEM has rubber flappers inside. they only open and main filter gets wet and engine creates big vacuum. I also used K&N filter. The picture you saw was for home made CAI. the whole thing cost me a little under $100 to make and made sure it fit right. about loosing low end power, well actually only short ram air have tendency to do that since they are sucking up hot air most of the time, but they do get huge gains on top end. For low end real CAI is the way to go, but don't expect huge gains on top end.
2. as far as coil goes, it does help smooth out idel and does help to burn fuel more efficienty. a little more spark power doesn't hurt. the only draw back is that ones a year you have to check your spark plugs for gap and wear. I had Nology spark plugs and they worn out within 6 month. the center electrod was gove on all 4 of them, but if you use NGK plugs you will be fine. use NGK plugs for 88-89 Accord LXI they have one step colder plug than 86-87 Accord LXI.

You want one like this one AEM Bypass (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AEM-2-5-Cold-Air-Intake-Bypass-Valve-By-Pass-20-401S_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQihZ013QQite mZ230096410521QQrdZ1) I have one like your looking at and it's not that good IMO

You can either make your own CAI by checking this thread out Custom CAI (http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?p=674809#post674809)
Or you can buy one from Ebay off of a 5th generation accord, I'm pretty sure that one fits with little modifcation.

no way, that is cheap POS bypass valve. that is the one that sucks hot air from the engine bay all the time.

the intake in that auction is right. so search for that kind of intake without that bypass filter. search for AEM bypass filter.
the only think you have to do to make that intake work is cut the fender whole a little bigger. to get the bypass filter work you probably will have to cut the main pipe in half and put the filter in the middle.

MY intake was made by following the HOw to for CAI. i didn't have to cut my fender. i just had to get extra 90 deg pipe to make it the way it is in my pictures.

for the intakes, they're all just tubes. what you realy need to worry about is the AEM bypass and a filter. i'd say get a dry flow filter from aem as well as the bypass valve. the 6th gen accord is the one that fits right i believe.

actually it is 5th gen accord one that fits with just a little fender cutting.
i have to agree about filter. make sure you get a nice one. AEM or K&N filters are good filters. I never used Aem so i can't say how hard it is to clean it.

i believe they are easy since the dry flow you dont have to oil up after you clean it.

the cold air intake will just give you some top end...i lost a bit of low end after puting my CAI on.
thats cause you have a 3" cai tube.. i have a 2.5" tube and my torque at the low end is fine :)

unfortunately almost all ready made cais are 3" wide so you have to make your own ot make a 2.5" :\

oh really.....cuz last time i checked it was 2.5....3 inch would be too big...i never had a short ram on my car so i could not compare but from stock i did lose a bit of low..... like i said i work the clutch a bit and i got it back...i still need to tune my cam gear.

:rly: i thought it looked like a 3" when i saw it, but it it's your car so i believe u :D do you have a 2.5" filter or did you have to use a spacer piece?

its a 90-93 integra cold air system....pico and coco had to cut part of it off and put it by the low part cuz the filter was hiting the splash sheild.

i would never lay filter like that. that is how many people suck up water.
my filter was about 3 inches from the bottom of that plastic liner.
you may want to lift your filter in the air.

yeah that one will work just fine. your best bet would be to take the pipe to a store and find K&N filter that will fit.

wallacefan just get the inexpensive CAI from ebay and order the K&N filter separately I think it will be alot cheaper that way.
you'll spend 20-30 dollars on the intake and another 30-40 dollars on the filter
