When I put my stereo in my car I was trying to remove the passenger side fender to run the amp power cable and I some how managed to get a piece of the trim off the car. I can't figure out how to put it back on.

(somebody help? do i need to pull the old clips out and get new ones?)

It's very weather worn, 20+ years old 'n all, so I decided to give a go at painting it.

Some Primer

Then I hit it with some metalic car paint (rattle can special).

I haven't decided if I like it or not yet. Im 99% sure that when I paint the car the trim will not be this color.

you are supposed to remove those clips from the inside by squeezing the ears together. I'm not sure if you damaged the back of the trim or not.if you deceide to paint it black, the closest look to factory is the duplicolor bumper coating. prime the plastic first with a flexible parts primer.

You can drill out thet bolt on the botom, and use regular one.
Glad i could help....

So was mine.:(

The trim piece broke. You could probably remove the clips, glue them to the trim piece, and snap them in place. You should be able to remove them with a couple of small screwdrivers, without removing the fender.

Yeah, if got 2 small flat headed screwdrivers. You can get them out, takes a little patience though. Just need to get the prongs in the clips to push inward with the screwdrivers on each side.

it dried pretty nice. it looks kinda metalic ...not real bad...haven't really decided if i love it or not...i don't hate it...i kinda like it ..dunno yet

i used the krylon plastic paint primer stuff to prime it...i did NO prep work AT ALL on it so i know it could look better

lol i couldnt get the fender off... me = n00b i guess... which is why the trim came off the way it did

i cant find my haynes book so i cant figure out how to get the fender off..any body help?

You need to remove the corner light first, there is a couple of bolts behind it. There is also a bolt at the top that you can only get at with the door open. There is also like 5 or 6 screw-rivets that hold it to the inner fender. It would be easier if you took the wheel off. These need to be unscrewed with hardly any pressure, or the center pulled out with an icepick, before they can be removed.

I'd just pony up the money & invest in new ones, than all the trouble of taking off the fender. Probably going to fall again cause there old & stressed out from pulling that trim peice off accidently.

U guys don't like that color? I think its pretty cool. Like I've said in other threads, I'm painting my car white. I think that matallic would look pretty good on white. I'm still deciding whether to put the trim back on, weld metal in the channel and smooth it, or just bondo over the clip holes and leave the channel in there.
