a local GM dealer has a 1987 honda accord LX (carbed) for $950 (i know 2 people who work there so i know what the acually thing cost the dealership to buy from the owner (trade in) )
its got 184,000 KM on it with a 5spd, no power options other then the sunroof (dont know about PS but im guessing it has it)
its got a few small dings and the rear wheel arches are rusted (drivers has a chunk missing) also the rear 8" of rocker on each side is rusted out.
im looking at getting it and getting some replacement panels from cross canada distributors http://www.crosscanadaparts.com/cgi-bin/crosscanada/product_list.html?img_num=2812
but dont know what ones ill need, i dont know what the wheel arch replaces from where to where on the car (pics they give arnt that great) but has anyone used these panels before? ill be getting pics atleast up tomorrow night, i might even have bought the car by then (tomorrow is my only day off till sunday) and i need a car for next weekend (5 hour road trip up to the okanangan)
everything works in the car (one of the guys at the dealership borrowed the car for a week because his truck was in the shop getting fixed.)
the car has been at the dealership since mid january and had no interest other then me on it (no one goes to a gm dealer to buy a 1987 honda)
im hoping to maybe get the car for under what the dealership bought it for because they can only realisticly scrap it now as it was before GM introduced the "car heaven" program (trade in vehicles have the option of being scrapped for a $1000 dollar rebate from gm to the dealership, it gets older cars off the roads so the newer cars sell better, or so gm thinks.)
theres been so meny nice fixer upper cars towed to the scrap heap from that stupid program when the cars only needed simple work to make them great again. (there was a nice 1989 trooper 4cyl 5spd that was there with a bit of rust (great offroad truck/work truck) and it was scrapped. i was 1 day to late on buying it  )
also how well do these cars handle snow and ice? (gotta convice my dad i can drive the 5 hours in some light snow in parts)
