Need divx (http://download.divx.com/divx/DivXInstaller.exe) to view.

video is kinda crap since i converted it from mov to divx. fk'n kodak digi cam.

teaser vid here (http://www.kelownaimports.com/vid/mar1007/a20-ITB-teaser.avi)

currently this isnt tuned to my expectations, i have gotten it to run smoother since the recording.

no iac yet, sometimes have to adjust manually.
tps re-adjust from .45v to .60v(probably because of less vac on the map sens)
pulls significantly harder from 3000 to 6500 rpm.
omfg, so looooove the sound the engine makes now!!

things i still need to figure out..
brake booster.
iac.

enjoy... hopefully get more vid tomorrow.

pics here a20-itb (http://www.kelownaimports.com/?page_id=112)

the pics are a little old, you will probably notice the fuel rail doesn't match the hacked intake flange. as it turns out it was off a 86 lude, but i found the rail to match it.

also forgot to mention that the vac advance timing isn't connected, might go a little harder once its connected again.

awesome project!! Id highly suggest using some kind of fuel managemant, the factory ecu is just not gonna cut it for itbs

Thank you...

unfortunately the stock ecu its all i have to work with right now. It runs alot better than i had expected. spent better part of the day testing and tuning.

according to the a/f gauge it runs a tiny bit richer than before but for the most part when driving it stays on stoich. the a/f gauge is probably incorrect for testing, but i can compare it to the stock intake.

going to have to get it dyno'd now tho, noticeable power gain considering how poorly i made the adapter. i bet the stage 2 cam just loves it.

sweet. nice to see an itb project. i'd like to do the same.

awesome man... glad to see someone else took the initiative and build a individual throttle setup. Good work. Love the JB weld.

Congrats on getting it running! Normally your A/F ratio should get leaner when making successful modifications because that means that the engine is able to draw in more air than before which then in return requires more fuel = more power. The question though is how much the fact that your TPS is not at the normal position anymore has to say in this.

had to adjust the tps. it was the only way the car would move. before it would seem like only half the engine was running, backfiring and whatnot. but now... its great. hate to see whats going to happen with my fuel consumption tho.

my timing had to be readjusted to for some reason, every time it would advance while driving it became sparatic, wanted to bunny hop at low rpms. the throttle was extremely sensitive. i had the timing advanced a little, so i set it back to stock and it drives much better. i have the advance set around 4k rpm on the tach, no longer bogs when it kicks in.

going to replace the other o2 sensor on tuesday when it comes in. the new one has a more stable reading than the old second one.

sorta got the brake booster working, i converted the cbr fuel rail to a vac log and connected to that, still looses vac if used to much. will have to install a charge can to remedy that.

good project. thumbs up!

Did you jb weld those on there though?

i jb welded the little runners to the intake flange for the itbs to mount to. it stuck on there pretty good, i tightened rubber joints and pulled on it hard, didn't come off.

but i later added aluminum flat bar from the intake flange to the end of the itbs on the top and bottom to secure them for sure. they probably could have just stayed on with just the rubber joints but i didn't want to take any chances.

might not be getting as much vaccum at idle to retard the distributor.

no vac = retarded, vac = advanced?

if i apply vacuum to the diz at idle the rpm bumps up.

i have a vacuum log now on the itb's so i'm gonna move most of the stuff to that.

On a side note I recommend K-Lite Codec pack (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm), download that and you can watch any video. Period.

that makes no sense.. it looks like headers with some CBR itbs slapped onto the stock intake manifold .. it seems very possible to do this .. as long as the motor can exhale it seems very possible

yes i know you guys are gonna go nuts about fuel management and torque , but it seems possible

ok so ive been doign alot of reading and talking to Sabz5150 online last night and this is pretty much what ive learned ..

1. the longer the runners ont he ITB's the more torque that is produced ..

2. ive also learned that not much power is made , but throttle responce goes up and more air gets into the engine making more potential power .. more power that is able to be gained from other mods.

3. that since the ITB's take in so much air then alot of exhaust work needs to be done to make the air come out.

4. a mild cam would be good since the loss of low end torque

2.5" exhaust at the least i would say, fuel management needs to be addressed, and custom headers i would say, pacesetter wont flow that great. all in all, id be interested in getting this done myself.

it seems possible , but realisticly .. how much power could be made

A20 with ITB.....maybe like 130whp with full exhaust and stuff.

plus the insane throttle response. Pretty much nothing you could do to the motor will be too much for ITBs.

so what itb's did u use, i had a idea a long time ago after helping a friend put a AE111 20v engine in a AE92 chassis that engine had itb's and i thought it might be possable to use something liek it on our cars congrats on getting it to work
