taking the interior out of these cars isn't bad, lots of stuff is held in by screws, not those stupid snaps

its a nightmare taking panels and stuff outta my friends 6g civic... every thing is frickin snaps:rant:

Can you bve a little more specific? What do you mean when you say beefing up the a20, what mods do you plan on doing? What do you mean by drag car, do you mean like bring it to the track every now and then drag car or try to get in some type of event? Just be careful there a a few different classes to race in, and each have their own specifications and requirements. The class with stripped interiors is a tough class to compete in because they have stripped civic hatches and crx's that are light as hell and have a lot of aftermarket support. Your best bet is to go turbo if you want to have a chance in winning IMO. Also make sure you know all of the safety requirements, the faster you go the more safety devices you have to have like rollcage, 4-point harness and racing seat, if you re-locate your battery you need an external shut off switch, ect. Yay thats my car. I dont plan on joining some kind of class. Im on a race team as it is, just with muscle cars. I took everything out to race it at the strip every so often and to have an import to play with.

yeah the interior or these cars are easy to take out. ive done it in less then 2 hours with a buddy of mine. you can also take out your trunk plastic covers...they are like 12 pounds.....

What do you plan to do for performance? You can do boltons and head work and put out like 160hp for about $1500-$2000 or you can go turbo for around $3000 and put out around 250hp. You also have to make sure that you upgrade the brake system so that you can slow the car down.

I didnt see anything where you posted what you were doing, i just read in your other thread that you were asking about pacesetter header and exhaust and all. If you want a lot of power the best option is to go turbo, it just takes time to get parts and cost a little more but is definatly worth it. If your going with bolt-ons then you want to try and get a S&S header and get a shop to custom make you an exhaust, pasesetter stuff is for street use so its more restrictive so for power you dhoulf get something custom made. Also if your going to use nitrious i would suggest rebuilding the motor then you can run a 75 shot, if you dont rebuild i wouldnt reccommend going over a 35 shot. Also you will have to upgrade the clutch and pressure plate because the clutch will slip with anything more then an intake header and exhaust. Theres also other things you can like modify a B18 intake manifold thats pretty cheap to do. And as far as weight reduction you should strip out the AC, the P/S, Cruise control, ect. Im just trying to get an idea of what your goals are so that i can be as much of help as i can.

Well this car is goin to take me to and from work and such. I dont want to take out the P/S or the A/C ( i live in phoenix ) i took out the Cruise control already

yeah...but you are still keaping ac and ps....i mean you dont need ps....plus by the end of the summer you might even have bigger arms....its not as bad if the car is going over 10mph. it only sucks when you are trying to park and you are stoped

To tell you the truth i dont know yet. I got it out of the shop and it poured rain so i havent drivin it much yet. I drove from the shop home but couldnt do much, i couldnt see 3 feet in front of my car it was pouring so hard. Its locked in its cage untill i get home from work today and then im goin to hit the back roads:)

yup, if you want to go fast, strippers go faster.... 3 gee is heavy though... best strip and strip some more :) I have a coupe... mine is not bad, better than sedan for weight, but still heavy for the a20 :) blown 3 engines trying to keep it at the rev limiter :)

Yes it was, i think its alittle faster with the system. I only have exhaust and intake but i mean the car can breath well. I had fun behind the mountains after work yesterday:flash:

You dont have the top harness' conected to the floor do you? O really hope you aren't utilizing them like that that is very dangerous. atleast weld a bar across and mount them to that. Why didn't you strip your deadener out? It comes out really easy took me mabey an hour to strip it from my hatch.

For now yes i do have them on the floor. I dont have acces to a welder at this time, but i know it has to get done and will. I just never took it out, never really thought about it.

I actually had a friend do it out of his house while i was on vacation. The paint is a PPG viper blue with extra metal flake. It was about 200 for the paint it self

So this stripped tin can car with I/H/E probably runs what... 16's. Wow... great project. Where is the NOS, where is the turbo? Power, and gettign it to the ground makes a car fast, not a couple bolt ons and stripping a car.

LOL thx for the comments guys. Ok there fido here was what has happened in the past 36 hours. I bought a 91 accord with a blow motor ( TOTALY MESSED UP) and i bought a DOHC b16. The A20 from the 3 gee is going in the 91 so i can drive it. Before the B16 goes in the 3 gee im puting it on an engine stand and its getin BOOST. So there is your boost...... Ohh and here are some pics of the engine pull of the 91. BTW the 91 has a body kit, a HUGE wing and a fart can:rice::rice: I didnt put it on i just bought it AS IS for $400. It came with nice rims and tires though.


This is getin the turbo then goin in the 3 gee. I picked it up for 1000 today.

So there you have it my $400 POS rice boll. Yes the pic with the cell phone, that is a hole in the block. There is no more crack shaft or rods everthing shattered. IDK how, the guy i bought it from did it not me. I knew it was blow but not how bad lol. Im the guy in the black shirt. If anyone needs any parts engine wise for a 91 accord hit me up.

Do you know that you're putting a less powerful engine into that 4th gen? Not to mention that it's honestly more work putting you A20 in there than dropping in an H22.

Im only puting the a20 in that car to drive it daily. The motor in the 4th gen is junk thats why it came out. I dont need it to go fast, thats why im puting the b16 in the 3gee. If i bought an h22 for the 4th gen then i would have my a20 sitin there and the h22 would cost me money i didnt have to spend. If i put the a20 in the 4th gen, i can spend the money i would have spent on an h22 on a turbo for the b16.

My car is a fully optioned 88 LXI 4 Door... everything works 100% even the A/C. It just passed a legal inspection Saturday, it's one color with nice original paint with minimal rust. Nice stereo, comfortable and I commute with it to work at 160XXX original miles. And if you read my WTB threads, its just in need of some interior parts. Some are a bit faded and one panel has a cigarette burn form the PO. Big friggin deal My interior is 100% complete with no rips, tears or holes in the fabric, clean headliner and everything is colored the way it was from the factory. As for maintained.... fully maintained. If something has a problem it's fixed, and it's an automatic, so it's not a super fast awesome 3g gutted street racing machine. Sorry. And I just got 29/30 mpg on my last tank using the A/C. I have a couple pictures of it when I first bought it when it was dirty. I don't glamorize my Accord because it's just a clean daily driver. And as for newb. The is my third 3g. And 7th Honda. And, my Accord is all stock besides a conical filter... no weird paint, stickers, clear lights, large wheels, lowered suspension, nothing. So before trying to "own me", make me feel bad, try to put me down, make me feel like my car is inferior, or think that I am some dumb ricer, try again.




And to the originator of the thread, I still say making a gutted shell of a car isnt the best way to make a car fast.

For the lose. If your going to pay good money on an intake, make one your self, or buy an AEM. Most people who buy them are going for looks only. But oh well, this guy is turboing his car anyways, so his intake will not be used.

I did. Maybe you didn't intend to, but you sure came across as arrogant and belligerent.

Maybe gutting your car isn't the best way to make it fast, but it is one of the cheapest, and if you plan on circuit racing, it's almost mandatory.

oh the intake looks like that for a reason,it's a design that actually uses the air velocity to increase the amount of air going into the engine. you'll see some of the new K&N intakes look like that. actually if you don't want it,i can use it as part of an air duct feeding air to my oil cooler. i assume the three g is no longer going to be a daily driver. if it's going to be a full race car, couple of suggestions, first get rid of the dash,all the ducting and plumbing and the condenser blower, etc. as a matter of fact get rid of the entire dash. you don't need the cluster eithier. if you are drag racing,you need a tach,a shift light, oil pressure gauge and possibly voltmeter. there is tubular framework that holds up the dash,would be a good point to mount a mini panel for those gauges. also get rid of the stock steering wheel. get a weld on adaptor that goes over the splines on the colum,this will adapt a quick release padded racing wheel,they are usually required,and even if not,can save your life if you wreck it. get rid of the sound deadning ,and all the leftover cardboard on the roof, that sound deadning is made of tar based material that will burn with choking black smoke in a fire. could impede you getting out in an emergency. one idea i always liked, get a basic manual sunroof,and rig it wth a pop out panel, if you are trapped in the car,it's an easy exit out if the door jams. these are easy ideas and could save your ass. it doesn't matter what class you run, if you wreck the car drag racing, it can catch fire and burn just like a top fuel car can burn.

a little clarification on the sunroof idea,i've seen this done before,you install a basic manual sunroof or whatever you call the one that pops up, remove the glass or plastic,and use eithier hot melt glue or basic silicone adhesive to attach an aluminum panel in it's place,the idea is if you have to get out,it's easy to push out the panel,but it still stays in place for aerodynamics,you can even pait it car color, never really noticed but always there.

Yeah but I think it's only good at certain engine speeds.

Same as having a pre-plenum plenum intake over the carb with snorkel, cept it actually slows the air down when it reaches the plenum, but at low engine speeds it works good.
