I recently did a power steering rack replacement and it seemed to go well. About a week after the alignment we began to hear very soft clunking whenever any weight was shifted.

I retorqued all bolts I took off when replacing the rack, and that didnt solve the problem. The noise is typically when driving straight, so It leads me to believe it isnt the rack.

When parked, I can push down on each front corner and hear the sound, although its stronger on the drivers side.

From searching other posts, it sounds as if its a ball joint issue. Is it possible that when the alignment was done they didnt tighten everything properly? Or does anyone have any ideas what this may be?

Thanks

Probably an upper ball joint. Have a friend push down on the front of the car while you feel for vibration in the suspected part.

Yea most likely it is the upper ball joints.

It could also be a dry or worn upper or lower arm bushing. I had a broken spring on mine that caused a similar sound. The lower coils of the spring had snapped.
