Well I've searched and came up with nothing. The other day I noticed my 89 has a 2-1 downpipe while my 86 is single. This made me wonder if this "new" technology would benefit my older engine in any way. Are there any parts from the 89 that I could use on the 86 that might increase performance, or just be a tougher part, and possibly last longer?

The 89 is better, but uses 2 o2 sensers vs. your 1 o2 senser.
Btw, I'm eating buffalo wings....mmmm...yummy!

Speaking of food, I just got out of class, and I'm going to get some. Are there any gains in anything by switching parts, or no?

Better exhaust flow. But in my opinion, just get a header.

very minimal i would assume

Probably where some of that 10 hp gain came from in the 88-89 models.

if you switch out the 88-9 intake mani.... it will add a bit of power, I got this info from FORREST89SEI and im pretty confident he knows what he is talking about that and the down pipe would be the easiest ways that i can think of

Yeah I'm not looking for monstorous power, just seeing if anything would work. Might switch it over. i believe I can use the downpipe, and just one of the 2 O2 sensors.

Would be nice too bad the dc sports headers arent produced anymore.

yeah the only difference between the early and the later fuel injection is the dual stage intake and the better flowing exhaust....if you have a dremel....you should port it b4 you put it in

Yeah, It's a spare so I'm gonna take both off pretty soon, maybe tonight. I don't have a dremel but I might buy one, cause it seems i've been needing one a lot lately. Also for anyone I have a question, I noticed that the two years 86, and 89 have slightly different vacume line patterns on each intake manifold. Will this matter?

just get a b16 intake manifold they can be pretty cheap on civic forums i could have bought one for like $15 but i passed because i want the edelbrock manifold one day...and if you do port it make sure to match it to your manifold or you may make the flow worse than stock.

the main differences are the intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds. but i believe there's also a difference in the cams as well. if you swap the exhaust manifold, you can't bolt your current manifold to the 88-89 downpipe. you need to get an 88-89 manifold and downpipe.

Yeah I knew that. I think I'm gonna switch exhaust manifolds tonight, and intake, once i get it ported. Can i just leave one of the o2 sensors intact, just disconnected since it has two?

I already have an 89 donor car, so might as well use what I can.

Oh yeah one more question, when I port the intake manifold, can I use the gasket as a guide? And, if I can do I use the one from the 86?

i'm almost sure the ports on the heads are the same, so i would just use the one with the bigger gasket holes. but talk to rjudgey for clarification on that for certain. bigger doesn't always mean better.

Andys' Auto sport has a Pacesetter header for the car for about 260 before shipping

that's a rip-off. you can usually get it for about $200 shipped off ebay.
