well i had seen this car earlier this week close to my school. its an '86 prelude with the carbed engine. i mainly went to see what trim it was. the engine was pretty much a bummer though, no more carbed hondas for me. but, the exterior looks to be all original. not the best paint, but i'd say its in better condition than my accords. the interior is imaculate. its a 5 speed. has about 230000 miles. so i asked how much. $3600. WTF? um, no. but if i can get it for cheaper, maybe i should, like $2000 cash wouldnt be bad. but it does have the high miles. maybe i should quit looking at old cars and just stick to newer ones? anyways, here's a pic. i love the wheels on it too.

yeah look for a newer car that needs a head gasket or clutch, something easy to fix but you'll be able to buy it for cheap.

I wouldn't buy any car in stock condition made before 1990 for more than 1000 bucks.

I'd pay between $800-$1000 if it was in good condition...
but then I'd pay $3000 for a mint 1st gen lude :)

To each their own i guess, but for $3000 I'd prefer something with an H22

2k is a stupid bad deal....i mean come on i paid 500 bucks for my 89 lx-i 5 speed.

with 2k you could convert to your car to fuel injection and rebuild the motor. and you will have a new car

haha, thats the exact thing i was thinking. had the nerve to ask him if he was serious too. but its in great condition. but then again its carbed and has high miles. so oh well. i may try and get a 3gee coupe. i'm trying to find the one i had seen a month ago. it was a 5 speed LX-i too.

I payed 200 for the car Im running now. It was running when I got it, 87hatchback.
Traded another 200 dollar for a running parts car, inside was shitty, 86hatchback.
Got one 89, it was a 4 door. for free, it was running. And might I say, it was almost new inside. I felt bad about tearing it apart, I did it anyway. Motor mount was broke.
Payed 200 for a 87 Prelude. It ran, but it sprayed fluid of some sort everywhere when did.

Thats 600 bucks for 4 cars. That 4 door car( I dont know the abervasions) would have been good to drive. But I wanted an 89 block.
It was just a shell when it left. The doors were to long so they stayed on.
We had to chain it up to this big press type thing we made to drive the tralior under it and set it down.
It wasnt until the end of the day that we realized we'd left the power windows up. Of course, by that time everything was off of it. So we had to bust both back windows.
They were tougher than I had givin them credit for, the ball pein wouldnt do it. It took the sledge hammer.
But man, for a free car it sure was clean. The air worked, didnt flash any lights, even smelled good inside.

Honestly a car is worth what someone is willing to pay. But even with 50k on the odo(which wouldn't mean shit since they're easy to tamper with and the title would be exempt) that thing isn't worth more than $1200-$1500 at the absolute most.

i keep passing by there and see the car just sitting. i want to take some cash over there and see what they'll do. its so hard to find a 2nd gen lude in this condition around here though. i may just forget about buying more used cars and stick to saving up for a newer car. my choices so far are Saab 9 5 Aero, Subaru Legacy GT, early model S2000, 7th gen Accord coupe V6, maybe a Jeep Wrangler 4 door, mmm i dunno what else. but those are the newer cars i'd actually spend money on. otherwise, i'll stick with my 3gee.

i wouldnt get the car period, not worth the headaches of dealing with a 21 year old car.

But if i were to get it, i wouldnt give them any more than 500 bucks

i'm sure they can be made to look nicer but i'm not a fan of the front end or the vented rear window

There are some on trademe with less than 1/2 the mileage and under 1/4 of his asking price and they still don't sell.

However a mint BA1 (B20A 2.0Si) could fetch as much as US$2000. It's just the AB versions that are hard to sell.

lol yeah...most of the 2nd gen people do the 3rd gen lude bumper swap and put the teg lip. makes it look cleaner.
