I bought a Blaster 2 #8203 today at a local parts store for $55. Anybody have a picture of one installed? That link helps but they're very blurry. Also it doesn't mention hooking up the resistor.

If your talking about the factory resistor, you dont have to touch those wires, your only going to use the wires coming off of the original coil and cut off the connector ends. Connect the two black/yellow stripe wires together and the two blue wires together. The blue goes to the negative side of your new coil and the black to positive.

So I do not need the .8 Ohm resistor included with the coil? If that is the case my grandma could install one of these things.

I'd just try the coil first, then maybe after you do some more mods get the ignition box they sell. That's what I've always heard.

Oh I have the 8203. I just installed it and it definitely smooths out the idle. My car would idle kind of rough and my driver side head lamp would vibrate and make my car sound ghetto. For only $50 I'd say it was worth it, I was planning on replacing my coil anyway since I have no idea how old it is.

I emailed MSD about the resistor, I'll see what they say. It is working fine with the factory one at the moment though.

you do not need this resistor, i posted the whole thin on it in another thread from like a year ago lol it is not needed on cars newer then 78 (i think) mostly any car that used pins instead of a dizzy, so dont worrie about it, i could search for the thread i have the full tech term for it but dont worrie its cool, just install it like they show in the write up on here

Cool, thanks. I spent half the day yesterday reading forum search results for "blaster coil". Do you have a link to that thread? I'd like to read it out of curiosity.
