so i live up here in retarded canada where they salt the roads in the summer.....

so my question is where would be the best place to look for a 3gee or really anything without rust. because im planning on coming down to the states to buy a car since everything up here is either rusted or a fortune.

so any suggestions?

and how are those legends? the 1st gen with 161 hp are they fast?

They don't salt here in OR, but they do gravel the roads so you inevitably have some rock chips on the nose of the car.

come by mine  it'll even have short ram, full exhaust, and pacesetter headers (sorry, i keepy the dc sports :)). and i'll give with it the 5-speed tranny + parts for 5-speed swap that i have and possibly the rear disk setup up that's taking up a corner in my garage. also the reman axles to go w/ the 5-speed swap and reman power steering rack. i'll throw in the teg cai + 4g tb too. all it needs is a new front bumper...

Washington is close, and we don't salt either. We get a lot of rain on the west side of the state, but rust isn't any worse here than what I've seen in California. We don't have faded paint problems of California or the hot places either. Plus we're right on the Canadian border. Easy to get to!

yeah cali people only get the sun faded car...but what can you expect...17 years of sun beating on it.....it has to fade.

Why not buy a Landrover? They're suppose to be made out of aluminum, which doesn't rust.

Sorry dont mean to be a prick know it all but....Yes it does, you would have to annodize it and make sure it has no rust on it befor u do it or the rust will grow like wild fire.
Hey crazybird why dont you come out to the west coast, I just bought a 3g ex-i it does have alot of rust but it was from the interior, theres alot of nice cars "rust free" right in your own backyard.
Keep it Canadian m8 Vancouvers the place to be.
besides think of all the speeding tickets ull get when ur going 110 but its in mph not klm.

well the only cars that are pretty much rust free here are straight from the dealer... since my sisters 98 accord is already starting to rust and so is my parents 02 accord and they both baby those cars... so really im thinking of America since its cheaper and cars are all so nice...

Well BC is just like Washington climate wise. I don't think they salt along the border near Vancouver do they? That would be much easier than importing a car...

well supposedly when u buy a car over 15 years old u dont need to pay duty on. and i know a couple people who have done this and they say its really an easy process. and if im driving all the way out there i might as well go to the states get a really nice car and prolly pick up some abercrombie clothes :P

True, rust is everywhere, you just need to know where on the car to look. Some cars are cared for better even on salted roads or ocean coast states

Crazybird
04-18-2007, 03:48 PM
lol no worries i know where to look cause my car has alll the major spots :S

and i learned how to drive standard today and omg i don't wanna drive auto anymore

Crazybird
04-19-2007, 02:55 PM
ok so will the efi accord standard keep up with a 00 celica? also standard or will i still have to do mods because thats basically my biggest competition outa friends..

and i was debating getting another car but like all the Chevy's look the exact same inside... and ud never catch me in a ford or dodge unless it was a classic

87LXiR
04-19-2007, 03:11 PM
Im pretty sure that a 5-speed efi 3g would lose to 00 celica unless of course you have some decent mods (even then not so sure). Oh and look for cars in cali just stay away from the ocean, most cars rust around there, try the desert where im at no need to worry bout rust, il sell you my hatchi if the price is right...( or an 89 camaro with TPI):deal:

neways any suggestions on cheap cars in the us of a... and where are the cheapest cars.. i hear its texas but im not sure if thats true

One of these www.thirdgen.org/pictures-1989-chevy-camaro (http://www.thirdgen.org/pictures-1989-chevy-camaro)

As far as where cars are cheaper i have no clue,. As far as performance goes if you got the cash buy something newer preferabily something with aftermarket support. I know the 3g's a great car but as far as straight performance goes it suks balls (unless of course you drop some cash on it of course). on the twisties in the it scores high on the fun factor .

Give us a ballpark budget and some people could give you a better suggestion on what your options are as far as a choice of car goes.

lol...come on....its only like 20 more hp...its not like a race car..

04-19-2007, 08:40 PM
Im sure that the celica has well over 20hp over a 3g :violin: . So sad yes ...i know. But yeah he's pretty much right shouldn be to hard to find a car that can outperform that celica. If you wanna keep it honda or at least asian( hehehe.... i quoted someone ) you gotta get something with a DOHC or turbo ( Civic, crx, integra, 240, Supra) or if not there is always the MIGHTY american V-8 ( Camaro, Firebird Mustang ). For about that amount of cash you should have no trouble finding a car that has already been built.

If youre looking for a fast american car go with an 87-93 fox body mustang.

5.0, Fuel Injected, RWD, and its basically the civic for the domestic world. Everything from 460 swaps to twin turbo kits. Plus they are tough as shit.

Import, there are 10010101 choices. Id probably look for something from the 90's, just so its a little newer and will probably have less miles.

*cough*camarosarebetter*cough* lol jp. Hes right though Those mustangs are quick have Huge after market support are abundant here in california and finding parts should be cheap and easy. The same is true for Camaros and Firebirds only they are far far FAR better than any mustang:naughty:

As far as imports go you may have a harder time finding one thats suites you(considering you DO have 100,000,000,000,000,000 different ones to choose from) but the choices are out there. Look into civics/crx integras and odds are youl find one with a motor swapped in.

Oh and what is Canadas smog policies like?

ive always loved the firebird/ trans am's ive always wanted one... and they are also way cheaper down there aswell

If you want a cheap car with lots of aftermarket, and you're thinking about a Ford, you can get like a 2000 Focus with the Zetec engine for like $4000.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/car/315385542.html
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/315603261.html <- overpriced even.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/car/315132385.html

My buddy has one with the A/T, blew out at 150k. But im sure the car wasnt exactly babied its whole life. If you can find one with a 6-spd then go for it, but id still rather get a mustang for a few grand less and spend the extra in mods

try and get one 89 and up (i believe), it has the Mass Air intake system instead of the speed density. The mass air responds to mods much better then the speed density crap

as far as disliking the car thats fine. I dislike about 95% of other fords, but those cars are reliable and bulletproof :dunno:
