hey guys, i have an 88 hatch and i want to do something with the clear lenses that cover the actual tail light, ive seen descriptions on some cars where they painted the tail lights, how do you do that but still keep them transparent i want to have really nice reflective red tail lights or does anybody know if you can buy em like that because i hate the old clear look and when condensation gets in there thay look horrible.

I have that condensation issue too, how might I fix that? Is it the seal?

I would get condensation in my taillights. I then payed $40 for the two base seals(the one between the body and taillight) and it solved my issues with water in the trunk, and water in the taillight itself.

they have the nightshades stuff...but im not impressed with it. Once you get enough tint on the light to change the color it doesnt let hardly any light show through..

I do not recommend spray on tint on cars. You will wind up with a heck of a mess. Think, you will have to have lint/dust free conditions, prep work is three times that of film tint.

as for taillights, seems like you could go to professional hobby shop and get candy paints in rattle can. And if your gonna try to use silicone to seal taillights, use it after your done with any coatings because they will fisheye and be messy.

I used candy apply red and clearcoat on the tails that are on the SE-i.

It didn't totally make the orange look red, but it looked a lot closer. I probably could have put a few more coats on, but I didn't want to block to much light.

alright guys, take it from someone who lives in renton, a suburb of seattle where as im sure you know it rains constantly, go to a model shop and pick up some testors translucent candy apple red spray paint, im pretty sure anyway. it would be by the rest of the paint or worst comes to worst just ask the guy for some, then get some clear coat, apply like 4 coats of the candy apple, and like two coats of the clear coat, just make sure you allow plenty of time for each coat to dry. make slow full passes at about 10" away. the clearcoat protects the paint from chipping and stuff and gives it that oem gloss effect. http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56308
so check out my accord. it was also when i had the rims i just sold on it. they looked sexy. lol
here is a link to my car, it has pictures of my freshly (at the time) painted tail lights, they are all red. hope this helped.

the cops wont care.. it will just mean you can't resolve your fix-it ticket lol

and please, do not tint your windows with anything that comes out of a rattle can :uh:

Those actually are pretty hot looking. I do prefer all red like in Hostlie's SE-i pic. And I agree, get a respectable tint shop to do the tinting, local PD doesn't care how your windows got tinted if they're too dark it's your problem.
