There is still time to have a BIG meet in 07 like i was saying in the last thread lets have a camping meet at a lake for the whole weekend BBQ lots Beer and Fishing and Swimming to.

OK Yesterday I went to yosemite!

I took some pics and got some info.

I'm not posting pictures yet but i will soon, so heres some of what I know

Admission to the park is $20-25 per Car.
Summer is the busiest time of year and after may-june you will not really see any water falls.

there are 3 main routes to there:

Hwy 120 (*has Priest Grade which is the longest 5 miles of your life!) runs over to I-5 so a easy pickup for the bay Area folk.
Hwy 140 (not as bad a Hwy 120!) can be hit from I-5 or Hwy-99 Located in North Central Cali. v
Hwy 41 (BEST ROUTE FOR SO-Cal Folks PERIOD and the safest IMO Route) So Cal folks just take Hwy 99 Up to HWY 41 in Fresno and continue on. Southern Bay area foks can catch Hwy 46 to Hwy 41.

now GAS, make sure you gas up in, Oak Hurst (coming on HWY 41), Big Oak Flat or Groveland (Coming From HWY 120) or like El Portal (Coming from HWy 140) there is NO gas within the park and the closest station is in CRANE FLAT and they charge almost $6 a Gallon for Gas! also filling up is good since the Yosemite valley is located about 25 miles from the park entrance.

So thats my .02 for the moment.

i drove around 220 miles.....monkey is the meet queen....he drove more than 800 miles....from LA to SF then to Cambria(half way to LA) then back to SF then to LA.....

i think ill have more time during the summer to head out to Cambria. We really need to have a date and have people committed in going and not flacking the last min.now that the money i spent on the accord im not going to just hop on and drive it. like i did before paint. Since i dont have a reliable truck that i can use to haul the accord i would need to rent a truck and I would need to rent a trailer to haul it.

I see that many like March...mid-March & April. Both Mar & Apr have been mentioned more right now that I can tell from the threads. Next is June, then Jul. The one exact date of Feb 23, Sat., is good, too; except noted to be too early for getting the rides fixed up. Most all of this coming week except for Wed., Feb 20, is supposed to rain in the Bay Area even if it's sunny in Cambria (if that's where we're headed). I was trying to figure out how to post a poll with dates so people can choose or put in a calendaring feature but I'm too stupid to figure this out. What about any of the following dates?
Mar 15 (Sat)/Mar 16 (Palm Sunday)
Mar 22 (Sat)/don't know about Easter Sunday
Apr 19 (Sat/Passover)/Apr 20 (Passover)

Cambria was great. The location was chosen not only for its beauty but also because it was pretty much the midpoint for the SoCal folks and SF Bay folks. But if some people from NorCal (way up north, I mean) can't be driving that far -- especially on $4/gal gas!) then maybe we can have a stop over meet at SF? Maybe. I'm just throwing it out there. I read that Cheese is even going to be in Napa. That's lovely up there but his class is coming up real soon and his really free days from school are May 30 - Jun 1 & Jun 7-Jun 8. I may not be able to make those, but for those who can join up with him, that may be another mini-meet before the GREAT meet if we can figure out exactly when and where. Somebody posted a date of Jun 29 as well. Maybe by then most people will have their cars ready??? How about some time before it rains in October?? lol

I think it should be in Cambria, its not gonna be too hot on the beach, and that is the location that is right in the middle of both norcal and so cal... The 26th and 27th both work for me.

Every Aug weekend (cept Aug23/24)
