Best way to remove pin stripes?

Anybody have any ideas of how you could remove pin stripes from a car safely without messing up the paint to much, it at all?

i used a heat gun...and i also used a 3M eraser wheel that goes on the drill bit its ment for removing pin stripes.....i must warn you tho...even tho you take them off you will see the paint difference....

yeah you are right....i was too lazy to do that. plus i was planing on painting the car so i just got them off and got some strong degreaser to get the sticky part then washed it and bam.....its been over a year and i cant see that that bad now...thats that cali sun....damn UV rays

i took mine off with my finger just started picking it and it just pelled right off but it was 110 that day soo. lol

Try rubbing alcohol or even Scratch out.

My pinstripe was way old, I put some electrical tape on a flat head screwdriver and scrape it off while blowing on it with a blow dryer on the hottest setting. I also had to use bug/tar remover. It was hard as hell, but well worth it. The paint was faded compared to underneath the pin striping.

3M Eraser wheel FTW! Then some acetone to clean off the leftover goop. Acetone won't stay on your paint and eat it up if you rub the goop off with a rag quickly.

yup....that is what i did....but i used some lacqer.

the 3m wheel is good , i used to use it alot when i worked in bodyshops. major down sides to it is that its very possable to burn through the paint (if u have the air tool version) and all those rubber pellets from the aftermath. Personally id use(d) a high temp heat gun and just peel it away and clean up the area with some kind of glue solvent (laquer works and alcohol works good too as others said) i havent done it to my 3gee yet b/c ive done it to a few cars and your left with a "shadow" sometimes buffing it and compound will work it out other times it wont

i use 3m multi purpose adhesive cleaner and wiped mine off lol

Use a low temp heat gun..AKA Hair Dryer works best, without bubbling the paint.

yeah like many people said on this thread, the heat gun is the best.

i was able to take it all off under 20 minutes when using the heat gun.

I have used Goo-Gone to remove emblems/badges from quite a few trunk lids before. You just have to make sure that right after you apply it, give it a few mins to soak into the adhesive, then peel it off. But make sure you wash the hell out of the car right after you're done. You don't want that hanging out on your paint for any extended amount of time. Like everyone esle said too, I would wax the car after you're all done.
