might as well drop in a H22

I'd rather have an f22/23 bottom end with the h22 top end and a nice turbo. The f22/23 bottom ends can handle more. Besides even a straight f22 would be an improvement over the a20 in weight and hp/tq.

i dont understand why do a whole swap for just 20 more hp doesnt the f22 put out 140hp

you would have to have custom mounts, harness, axles, and linkage. my friend had a 92 accord with intake, headers and cat back....nothing really special my other friends 87 5 series bmw would walk all over it.

you can make 140hp with just bolts ons.....justanothermike proved it when he dynoed his a20

soon as mine is fixed il also dyno it too

Yeah but the f is lighter, you can also swap bolt on onto that to make more hp and easily swap an h22 head on for even more power and better tuning with the dohc setup. And I think the hp is closer to 145. I'd rather start with the extra hp and add to it. As Steve has pointed out many times with our a series vs b series arguments, the F with an h head has more proven potential then the a series does.

but, check this out. if it starts at 140-145, you're ahead of the curve since that's where bolt-ons take you and you're basically stuck there unless you really get into the engine. the f-series is there stock, and still has all the bolts waiting to be put on. then if you get an obd-1 motor, you get the tunability that comes with that as well. then you have the potency that comes with the ability to boost that engine much better than most b-series engines. and then you can do f/h block head combos for added dohc tunability. and since f-series and h-series engines are basically the same in mounts, you can upgrade a little later if you don't have the initial cash for an h22.

well snoopy that is a good argument. i have to say.... i dont really see thoes combos around here. does the f-series have LSD like the b18 does as well as a 6 speed tranny?

if i had 2-3k to toss around i would get the b-series. any engine over 1992 will have obd1...you would still need to wire it right to your car. they still have lots of aftermarket its unreal...the guy in so-cal that has the bosted b-series accord....pushing close to 400 hp on 12 pounds of boost....

no f-series trannies have lsd that i know of, but the f-series and h-series trannies are interchangeable and the h-series does have an lsd tranny (or maybe two). so you could use the h22a type-s lsd tranny. but i don't think there was a six speed tranny until the nsx c32b, f20c and k-series showed up. and of there's plenty aftermarket for f/h series. maybe not quite as much as d/b, but it's certainly more than a/ancient b series. and yeah, wickedaccord's sedan is sick, regardless of what motor that is under the hood. but of course, i think the reason you don't see that combo a lot is because i don't think a lot of people know about it. but frankensteining the f and h series (aka the "g-series") is a similar amount of work put in as an ls/vtec setup. but most people just want h22 for their accord and ignore or are oblivious to the possibilities with the g-series.

F22 block+H22 head=frankenstein horror on track days

F22 block + H22 head = F22 compression and redline... Unless you build that bottom end, it's a waste of an H22 head.

I know this thread is old, but I had to reply :p

The F22 is a very potent motor. Easily boosted using DSM parts, cheap to get, build, and maintain. Bisimoto.com offers some very good parts for it. In a 3G, an F22 would be very nice. However, if you can fit an F, you can fit an H.

The only F series that made more than 145hp was the F20B, the Accord SiR-T motor. 200hp, but it had a very peaky powerband. Very similar to the H22, but not as good. It did come with LSD manual, or with a tiptronic automatic (probably also LSD, not sure... nobody uses those!)

ive done a f20 h22 hybrid - that motor spun like a motorcycle engine, using the H22 pistons to raise compression and using the H22 ECU and VTEC harness mod - and it was in a 3G btw - that was a nightmare for all everywhere

better off with a f23 rods and pistons in the h22 block...they call it the cheap stroker kit...Thats good for n/a...i have a buddy with that....can redline at 9 easy....Theres not point for a f22 block...there big ass hell for a h22 they dont make chrap for power unless you mod the shit out of it.....h series the wey to go....OR f22b which is a f series DOHC....if you going to bs with a f series which is the same as a h series as in mounts might as well get that...I know your going to its the say...BUT a you can use f23 internals on a h series and Clown a f series all day...PROVEN FACT...

Better off using f23 internals on a h22....i would never put a f series in my car...waste of time and money..not going to gain much.

I posted pics a long time back about 2 or 3 years ago on this site of the F20A DOHC JDM SI (150 hp) swap into a 3G - the head swap is really easy - bang a H22 head on the f20a block with a H22A or F20A gasket (same parts) there and use the original timing belt of the F20A JDM engine exact fit, everything else remains where it was - PS pump, alternator etc. As the EFI harness was handmade completely (carby car originally) your imagination is your limit with it.

I dont own the car anymore - been more than a year now - but I'll try to get some pics from the owner if I find him..

i aswell would like to see said pics the only 3g i know of running a F motor is vectors rwd one.

you dont have the pics saved of said car? seems like a swap like that the pics woulda been saved, custom mounts obd1 wireing and even cable to hydro clutch, id like to see the setup
