quick question...

what type of hose are you guys using that connect from the bottom of the carb to the top insert on the anti-afterburn valve?

it is currently being connected by a bigger hose on the anti-afterburn valve connected to a smaller hose on the bottom of the carb.

when connected like that it leaks somehow and the car stalls after it turns on.

if i plug both sides like in the pic below it will idle at 800.

this is a manual cali car. will plugging it pass smog? thanks.

i think i figured out that the anti-afterburn valve is bad. according to the instructions in my shop manual:

It said to cover the air inlet tube (which is the tube sticking out on the left side on the air cleaner assembly). It says if there is vaccum, it needs to be replaced.

Well, when i don't cover that tube and start up the car, it will stay on for a few seconds and then stall. When i cover the tube, the car stays on.

BTW, there is vacuum on that tube. Which makes me believe that the anti-afterburn valve is bad.

It also looks to have been opened and fiddled with due to this black stuff around it.

Does anyone know where i can get a replacement? Thanks.

I *might* have one in my stash of parts... I'll look around when I get home. I would definitely think that with that black goop, someone has tampered with it. What year is your car? I don't know if it will matter year-to-year.

Who knows what it does LOL. Welcome to the world of emissions...

And I didn't get a chance to look for that thing yet. I got home pretty late last night. I will try to do so tonight.

The bottom one goes to the air cleaner assembly where there is that little tube sticking out. The top goes to that tree thing with lots of lines connected to the bottom of the carb. And there is another small one that goes to the air control diaphragm. Complicated? Yes, at least to me.

Man, I can't find that valve anywhere. I moved, and all my parts were in various boxes all over the place. I'll keep my eyes out when I rebox all my Honda parts into plastic bins next weekend, but until then I have no clue where it is... sorry man. :(

I would think that down in SoCal, there would be quite a few 1g's hanging out in wrecking yards. There are quite a few up here on Craigslist, and we get rain which I would think gives us a bit more rust than you guys. Have you looked around there, or called around some yards?

You're right. Earlier this morning i went to the local junker and picked up one of those valves. Car runs good now!

The only thing about the yards here in socal are that the cars get stripped fast... There is usually nothing left over. I found 1 1g and a few 2nd gens...
