well, today is the day that my project is on its last days of being called a project. this project started a year ago to the month, it was aimed at beating elijah at the track when we both got our accords ready... it all started with me getting a free parts motor from elijah that i had planned on rebuilding. when i found out it spun a bearing, i decided it wasnt a good candidate for my hard earned money. after some careful thinking, i decided i would be best off using the motor that is currently in my car for the rebuild. after taking it apart, and sending the block to the machine shop at around june, i finally got a call about it one morning in august. when i signed the papers, and paid my deposit, my project was officially on the way, and within 2 months, i got the block back, along with all my parts i ordered for it.
as soon as i got the block back, winter basically hit, and i wasnt making any progress asides from researching on what i could use for engine management. a sad day came when elijah decided to quit on his project, so my goal was demolished with the acquisition of his car and miscellaneous parts. over the winter, nothing really happened with the entire motor build until i picked up the accord block elijah was going to build up. from there, i salvaged the crank pulley and quickly sent it off to get my rotating assembly balanced. once balanced, i started ordering miscellaneous parts for my motor, and started assembling my motor. while assembling my motor, i ran into several problems, the first being that i was doing all the work outside. this proved to be a costly mistake since a sand storm basically took place and nearly ruined my motor. so i took it back to get it all cleaned at the machine shop, which didnt charge me a cent for their service surprisingly. upon its return, i decided i wasnt going to make the same mistake all over again, so i made some room in the back of the garage to build my motor. and not, i can proudly say with a big smile and a grin on my face, as of may 21st, 2007, i will no longer be assembling my motor as it is now complete with minor complications which i will get sorted out soon. as far as dropping it in the car, i just gotta wait a couple weeks, and it should be good to go. hopefully it will be done in time for the cruise for cancer
for those that want pictures, i will post pictures in a couple weeks when this project is complete and the motor is in, and running. ive got over 100 pictures, and this was just from the engine assembly alone!
