A real noob needs help

My headlights worked fine until last tuesday - when my left headlight stopped working. It only works when the "long-light" is on (too tired to remember what it's in english, sry.) - But the right headlight works on both.
And yes, I've tried changing the bulb - it did nothing.
So i guess it's an electronic malfunction somewhere, but i'm too much of a noob to just go out and check it myself with nothing to go by.
Any tips?

bingo...that was my problem...also check the wires because one of mine was striped and rubbing from opening and closing and it would blow the fuse

check fuse No 7 (10Amp) under the dash fuse box.

I checked the fuse ofc, hehe - I'm a newbie, but not THAT new.
I found out that i'm not getting any current through the wire that goes into the normal light-part on the bulb.
Guess the wire is broken somewhere, what a hassle it's going to be getting to those wires and checking it/replacing it :/
