Hello again!

Once the 42 degrees C came in Romania, I had to use my AC system, wich works fine, makes very cold inside. But, once the AC kompressor is ON (AC button ON), the idle of the engine goes to ~500 rpm. It usually stays where it should stay, at ~850-900 rpm.

Is there a valve, a sensor, enything that lets the engine know that you started the AC, so that the idle stays constant, at 850 rpm? Once at 500 rpm, the car shakes and trembles like... you know. And I don't think this is good for the engine.

Please let me know if there is something I can do about this. Thank you!

Is this fuel injceted or carburetored? Anyways both of those engines have a/c idle boost diaphragm. Not sure where it is on an FI engine but on a carb its on the back of the carb on the driveside of the engine.

It is EFI, 2.0 90 kW from 89. What is the idle boost diaphragm?

Thx

It is a diaphragm that receives vacuum whenever the a/c is turned on. Once it receives vacuum, it bumps the idle up so the engine doesn't stall.

If you have the shop manual, it's on page 12-42. If you need the shop manual, here is the link (http://www.pauldesign.ru/honda/shopmanual.html).

EFI does not use a boost diaphragm, it uses an air bleed solenoid that is located inside the black box.

Ok, but how can I fix that? The black box meaning the ECU or something else? That solenoid might be blocked, damaged, or what? Is there a way to fix that so the idle stays right? Thank you very much.

I just that the heat just started and there is a loooooooong summer coming here...

The black box is located on the passenger side of the engine bay, up against the firewall. It has a bunch of vacuum hoses going to it. There is 2 or 3 solenoids with filters on the tops of them. For an 89 it should be 2.

#14 are the solenoids I am speaking of, and #12 are their filters. I forget which one is which, but generally the AC has the dirtiest filter. You can test the solenoids with a vacuum pump and 12 VDC.
