Well guys had a question, my turbo is just sitting on a chair in my room and I was wondering. The exhaust side of the turbo itself looks very nasty and just looks like old metal. Would it be alright to clean it and sand/paint the outside of it with a high temp ceramic paint? Also should I clean the internals of the turbo or leave them be? On a side not I have a few pics from my water pump install, should I do another diy, even though there are like 4-5 already? XD

most hi temp paints will burn off or fade but you can try it. I would just spray the housings out with carb cleaner if you want to clean it out a bit, unless its really filthy

Ok that works, so really no paint will hold...is there any other decently cheap route to go with it?

I wouldn't paint it. Maybe ceramic coat? I think the paint will just come off when it gets hot like turbos do.

^I was thinking that but anyone know a ballpark figure for getting this small of a piece ceramic coated and has anyone done it? Also has it held up well?

Google ceramic coating. I bet it would cost 10 - 20 bucks to ceramic coat it.

Well I found one site that said turbo housings $45-75...but if it was in the 10-20 dollar range I'd definitely do it. I guess when the time comes I'll have to call around.
