Hi all,
I need to replace my throttle cable. The symptoms started 2 days ago with the car idling around 2000 rpm and will only drop down if I open up the hood and manually force the spring back. At first I thought the throttle return spring on the throttle body was weak. But with a closer inspection today I found that the throttle cable is frayed at the point it goes into the firewall...

How do I change this cable?

thanks.

The same happened to me. Loosen the nut on the sheathed side of the cable and slide the cable towards the TB. Open the TB all the way by hand and turn the cable so that it points away from the center. Remove the cable by sliding out the slot in the side of the plate. Remove the cable from the bracket on the intake manifold. For the pedal end of the cable you will need to reach up above the pedal, grab the cable, twist towards the wheel and down, and slide it out to the right. Twist the plastic thing on the firewall, where it broke, and the cable will pull out.
