run down of my new setup (yay no more computer speakers)

same head unit alpine cde 9852
6x9 alpine type s in the back
alpine mrp somethingorother 4 channel amp
infinity 3.5's in the front

tuned it so the rear speakers pump out all of the bass for now until i can get a sub which is not going to be for a good while

ya stock sei has a special bose enclosure for the front speakers and it only fits 3.5ish ones and i got bestbuy to install it because i suck with audio stuff

Um, cut out the door enclosure to make a 6.5" fit. Its easy


And two wires and a few screws is really easy to do.

The guy who had my SE-i before me replaced the Bose system with a mix of old Pioneer and shitty Alpine speaks. They fell apart when I touched them! Funny that he was trying to show off the sound system when I tested it.

Anyway, instead of using 3.5's or cutting the basket, he just removed them and bolted the speakers to the door... much to my displeasure when I went to roll the windows down.

The baskets from my 86 moved over without a hitch, so I suggest hitting the boneyard. You'll find them in just about any 3g and they're bound to be extremely cheap.
