I know mix4 is having this problem, but i don't want to jack any threads and i my problem isn't exactly the same.

So i was driving around the other day and my spark plug fell out. I went and got tools then screwed it in by hand then used the socket wrench. The next day i decided to replace my wires, so i took off all the wires and noticed that the one that fell out wasn't screwed all the way in. So i took it out, which was hard and saw that one thread on the spark plug was messed up, so i looked at the hole and it looks like the first half of the threads are messed up with shaving on them. I got the shaving out but couldn't screw a good spark plug in more than 2 turns.

So i asked the dealership what it would cost and they said about $1200 to do it right. The car and engine is in perfect condition, so i don't want to get rid of it just because of a spark plug hole.

Retap the hole or get a new head.

Retap the hole or get a new head.
Try to re-tap it first. If that doesn't do it then just get a new head.

I took it into the local auto store and they rethreaded two holes for me without putting in any inserts for $75
