rust timing

k, heres whats happening. i have cut out the rust on the visible surface of my 88 LX. upon cutting out that rust, it revealed to me that there was a shitload of rust underneath the wheel well. even with the rust on the visible surface, i dont want to cut out too much because i dont want to do that much welding. i'm planning on selling the car next april anyways and either buying another 3gee or a buick (sorry ppl :p). my question is..... if i cut out the bulk of the rust, but cant afford to cut out the recommended extra inch or whatever, how long will it take for that rust to show again? like i said, i wont even have it in a year. i just want it to look good up until i sell it.....then i dont care. lol. im just going to weld new metal in, bondo it, and spray it with that rust paint. any ideas?
