My 1989 Accord LX has 155,000 on it. Looking at yours gives me hope! LOL. That is quite a milestone.

Out of curiosity, how much money have you spent on repairs? I mean mechanical failures such as power steering, transmission etc.

Thanks for showin tha love guys! :D

Micah, you're right, I was way the hell out in the middle of nowhere, lol. I was on the highway (I-55 south coming home from Chicago), but I wanted to be able to go slow and pull over and take a few pics without anyone bothering me, so I got off and drove around on some country roads for the last 10 miles or so. It was actually pretty nice out there! Wish I lived in the open areas like that...

AZ89Accord, there have actually been very few parts replaced (considering the mileage). I can tell you off the top of my head nearly everything that's been replaced and when. Not a single thing has ever been done to the transmission or the power steering. I've changed the oil in the transmission a couple times and that's it, and it's still one of the smoothes shifting manual trannies I've driven in a long ass time with all syncros still working beautifully. Power steering works perfect and doesn't leak a single drop (we've had it since 1997 and 140k miles, and I've never once had to add PS fluid! Still full too). Clutch has also never been replaced -- still the original Honda clutch, and it grabs great with no slipping (and yes, I've confirmed this with the original owner who we bought it from). Just adjusted it a few times, that's all. Other than that it's been (since 140k when mom bought it):

-CV joints, 2 fuel injectors, and timing belt @ 190k
-Alternator @ 220k
-Radiator @ 253k (that was because of a wreck though, it was smashed)
-Water pump, timing belt, and drivebelts @ 260k
-Both rear upper balljoints @ 270k
-Headgasket @ 275k (it didn't blow, it just developed a small leak from overheating a couple times and not flushing the coolant. Still ran fine! Replaced it myself so it wasn't really a big deal)
-Brake master cylinder @ 297k. Also did calipers, pads, rear wheel cylinders, and shoes at same time. They weren't really bad, but I wanted new stuff before I go on my trip to Florida
-Finally replaced original starter several weeks ago @ 298k. It too still worked, but was starting to occasionally do some weird things so I replaced it to keep from getting stranded.

There's also been a few other misc things that have been replaced, like main relay, brake rotors, rear struts, mufflers, gaskets, etc. A/C doesn't work though, so I'll be replacing some parts there in the future. Pretty much everything else though is still original. The CV joints are starting to click again, so I'll be replacing those again along with the motor mounts. This has still been one of the most rock solid reliable cars I've ever owned. Since we've had it it's taken us to 9 different states, some multiple times (IL, WI, MN, IA, NE, CO, MO, IN, OH), and has never ever left anyone stranded or even given the slightest lick of trouble for that matter. Never once failed to start right up nomatter how cold these midwest winters got. Still extremely trustworthy. End of next month I'll be driving it from central IL, through KY, to Nashville TN, down to Birmingham AL, over to Atlanta GA, and down to Ft. Lauderdale FL, while towing a 4x8 utility trailer loaded with all my stuff (I'm moving). I have no worries whatsoever!

I recently did a compression test, and it ranged from 199-210 psi across the board (which is pretty damn good considering normal when new is 178 psi). Vacuum test it holds a completely steady 21 in-Hg vacuum. Still nice and peppy, and idles smooth and quiet.

God I love this car! Now if I can just fix the rust and the dents! Oh well, enough babbling. Thanks again! :super: :)

my car has been doin fine up until this last thursday when a budlight truck t-boned me a a green light. his fault, his insurence totalled my car. repairs exceed 3k, so they are goona cut me a check for 1800, bluebook value. i had 250k miles still ran like a champ, i replaced a few things too, such as my radiator, muffler, cv joint, and both bumpers due to a snow plow. now its in the import heaven.
