Ok, I'm sure that this question has been asked. But I can't find the answer or a picture (at least a loadable picture, some of the pictures don't load, because the image is no longer being hosted.)

I have a 1986 LX-i and I bougth a FRAM PCV Valve for it. Where does it go? I've heard some say the LX-i's don't have a PCV Valve. Someone please help!! Thank you!!!

The PCV valve is just about impossible to get out without tearing up the breather hose on the bottom of it. Mostly cause they are hard & brittle after 20 years.

While these may be a PITA to get at, they're worth replacing. Go ahead and replace all of the related rubber (now plastic) tubing. This will save you a lot of headache because chances are that you won't be able to find the parts you need when you have your car apart.

Thanks for responding so quickly to my question. I was replacing my thermostat just a few minutes ago, and my car is down now until I can get to the junkyard :thumbdn:. The jerks at the parts store said that I wouldn't need a thermostat gasket. So I overtightend to stop it from leaking and the bolt broke. I'm lucky that the bolt didn't break off where I couldn't unscrew the broken part with vice grips. Argh!! Is there a bolt that's not important that I can steal from another part of the car??

Oh and the PCV. Don't I just pull the hose and yank the PCV, and replace it. Is it really a PITA?? If it is, how do I remove it? Thank you again!

Mine was so old and stuck I cracked it and the hose while trying to pull it out. I wasn't too impressed w/ aftermarket PCV; although more expensive, I'd strongly recommend sticking w/ the Honda part.
Hope this diagram helps. Part #18 and related breather hose is what you want. $12.

There aren't too many bolts on our cars that size and that long. Honda doesn't list them, but the water pump bolts are exactly the same. You should be able to find something at the hardware store. When I replaced my PCV valve the engine was warm. I grabbed it with some pliers and pulled up while twisting. Nothing broke, but I used silicone because the new valve was a little loose. When I tried it on my other engine when cold, the rubber grommet broke.

The small bolts for the thermostat housing are metric, 6mm diameter, 25mm long. An auto parts store or hardware store should have them. Bring the other one with you and make sure the threads match up. I would also get a few extras just in case.

I actually went to Pick-A-Part in Salem, OR (Turner actually) and looked for the bolts. I looked through all of the honda's and not many of them had a thermostat housing or even the bolts. But I did find a thermostat on two Hondas that were a little newer and one set of bolts were in excellent shape. I found another set of bolts that weren't in such good shape Total cost: $0.00, I even asked them how much it would be and they said FREE. Very nice of them. There were no SE-i's there either :thumbdn:

I went to Autozone and bought a thermostat gasket and the car is running at just the right temperature with no leaks. But I broke the number "15" hose connection clean off the dizzy. I bought some superglue an exta piece of hose and glued the broken piece back on to the dizzy (sensor??) thing, and when it dried I put the new hose back on. I tested it by blowing into to make sure that it didn't clog up with glue; and thankfully it did not. So that is fixed. I'm sure that saved me a $ or two. Oh and I'm going to go and take a picture of my intake because it doesn't look like either of these ones pictured. The PCV Valve remains a mystery.

If you see the PCV Valve circle it in paint or photoshop and repost. I appreciate it thank you!

If ya try to mess with this PCV valve, plan on getting the hose from the valve to the breather box. Warm the engine up & poke your hand under there & see how far that goes. Anyhow, good luck saving the breather hose after 20 years.

All the hoses, vacuum lines and such are in great shape. But I can not find any hoses that goto the breather box. There is a little box on the driver side of the airbox that a line or two goes to. And if I recall right there is a little filter in there. But I don't see a Valve anywhere. Can anyone post a picture of the exact locations since the other pictures do no apply to my application? I appreciate all those who have contributed there pictures and responses. So thank you for that!!

Follow that hose down and you will find the valve (#18), to the side of one of the intake runners. There is no filter in the breather box. The grommet that the valve goes into is actually part of the upper breather hose (#5).
