is there any way i can get an adapter for my carbureted lx so i can put a cold air intake on it??? or improve performance in any way through the air filters??

Yes, it's from a civic I believe. I saw one on ebay last week.

they dont really help....but i know what does.........get a K&N filter and just flip the lid on it. forrest is selling one cheap. check out the forsale section.

what about taking that stupid little restrictor plate out from the air cleaner? the one that sits diagonally between the opening for the air inlet and the filter. it seems to block direct air flow to the filter, and instead rerouts it through a little hole in the plate. anyone know if this helps at all?

you mean that lil plastic thing....its ment so it can direct flow around the carb but i took i out i have an K&N so i can just wash it out every time its dirty
