posted this earlier but i think most people would miss it:

i have a problem with my new koni and ground control coilover set-up,

my rear coilover springs do not extend to a significant portion of the threads on the sleeve.

if i move the collar down much further than the current pre-load setting, they become free and would move around if the suspension should become unloaded.

the ride height in the rear is not very low at all... it seems as if the springs in the rear are too short for the full sleeve.

frantik

You're are gonna have to have it re-cleared

doesn't look bad! the reflectors stick out though? did you mask those?

and another question:
i was wondering what companies make decent jdm/jdm-replica n1 burnt-tip mufflers?

and for an angled-tip, you just use a small bend before welding on the tip no?

edit: just saw the HKS, seems ok - http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=2143

knarg

So, considering my ride height problem in the rear, I am in the market for some new rear springs.... any suggestions?

I am willing to only swap the rear springs -- that would actually be the best way but... unfortunately, springs/coilovoers generally come in sets f 4. :/

Also, what springs should i match with my Koni struts. I currently have the Ground Control coilovers, if you were not aware.

I am still willing to buy a full new set. I had seen that 4g springs may work with our cars?

If so, Tein sells a set for the 4g:

4g springs won't work with our cars..

im thinking to switching to sportlines on the rear of my car...since it sits too low for me. i like the way it looks on my dx. its sexy.

frantik
08-24-2007, 01:46 PM
yeah sportlines have a nice stance making the whole car look slightly tilted toward the front

knarg
08-24-2007, 01:53 PM
i think i actually made a misjudgement on my rear coilovers.

i was talking to my brother, a reputable car-type kind of guy -- and he had said that the free-floating spring is common with coilovers, when the car is unweighted/jacked.

the only concern is that the spring will spin when unweighted, by chance, and it will not compress after setting down again. this would just require jacking the car up and unloading the suspension again.

thus, i'm going to adjust the coilovers to a reasonabley lower setting and see how the stance/ride is. i'm pretty excited to get my tail end down and out of the air like a ducktail!

also, which comes first: ST swaybar or ultralight wheels + grippy/wide tires or header/exhaust work?
oh the troubles of where to spend money on the car first!! :violin:

MessyHonda
08-24-2007, 02:11 PM
i would get headers and exhaust done first....it will improve your hp and your MPG.

Silent_Hill
08-24-2007, 03:38 PM
haha one thing i dont get...why didnt you just remove the bumper to paint it instead of taping off the whole car? cause when i painted mine i just removed it so i could get the inside too. but yeah thats a VERY nice looking HB

knarg
08-24-2007, 10:52 PM
it's really easy to put a drop cloth over the car and paint them on the car
the bumpers were a paint for me to take off before, i had already swapped for an 88 sedan bumper over the 86-87 aka hatch bumper. this also meant i swapped the signals of course, leaving both connections.

but if you are talking about the tape all over the car, that was for the trim work, not the bumpers...
it was much more tedious

I bought this kit from Summit:

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2DG1200A&N=700+%2D54667+115&autoview=sku

I figured I would not really need the sealed box.
And yes, it does include wires and ends.

update:

i have a magnaflow 2.25 cat and muffler coming my way from summit

when spring break comes (march 17th or so), i will have alot of projects to start:

i need to clean up my DC header somehow and maybe get a new downpipe and flex joint, then install that and full exhaust.

If anyone has some tips on what to do with this, please lemme know:

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1322/867001659_83674cd4a7_o.jpg

I also have my battery relocation kit to install, EF sidemarkers, full front poly bushings, new balljoints, new CV boots, new tie rod ends, and the rest of my CAI... (I need to bore out the hole in the chassis for it, since the piping is 2.75") OH, and a tow strap for SCCA regulation

if anyone in Cali wants this, I will sell it cheap at the next meet:

P.S. im hoping to have Koni sports in front by summer, as well as a Sparco driver seat and harness

for the paint on the dc header use some aircraft remover....thats what its called. its pretty much paint stripper. it goes for 5-8 bucks at autozone. a car will do. all you do is spray it and let it bubble. use gloves though and make sure you do it outside or a well ventilated area. also if you get any on your skin...wash with soap and water thoroughly

rust noted on rotors, must be out of service? wheels look corroded too, kinda green tint to them....:o) easy access lug nuts wow you could use a crescent wrench on them, long time since I seen you on!
also noted the creative roof truss on the gables of the house across the street, cool...

Yeah the rotors are definitely on the way out, just rusted from a few wet winters. Also, I boosted the color saturation so it makes the color more intense than usual.

I see that now, looks like flip flop pearl green in the shadows of the white.

You had a really nice hatch, it sucks that you had to sell it but if I had the money I would of bought it in a heartbeat. You think you'll get another accord in the future?
