I recently ran into quite a sum of money (dividend check) and got ahold of K20Z1 from a 2005 RSX Type S...

I have called a few shops around town in El Paso as well as some in phoenix, It can Be done for about $5500-7000, minus the cost of the motor and Transmission and all that. I really would like to have a K Powered 3gee..

I need to find a LSD from an 06+ Civic Si

I will keep you guys posted. I know this is all hearsay until I come up with some pics or something.

Yes sir, I have a rolling chassis... I have just been really hesitant to invest a lot of money into a A20 and then take it out. When the oppoutunity came to get that motor and stuff from the Acura I jumped on it and took it as a sign.

Awsome, I will be very intereseted to se how this turns out. Space definitly will not be an issue, but I think your going to have a problem with the oil pan being to close to the ground.

As long he doesn't drop it to low to the ground(the car i mean) he should be fine. Anyways a k20 swap is something i would like to see:welcome:

You would think so, but those k20's are very tall. It's either cut a whole in the hood, or hang the oil pan low :dunno: . Even my b-series touched the hood, and the oil pan is still low.

if that becomes a problem them a Dry sump system will be in order... IM really not sweating it. The k24 is a LOT taller than a K20 and they put those in old Civic Wagovans

why supercharger? from all that i've seen, turbo always ends up being better.

i would wonder how it would fit. but damn 5500-7k....might as well drop in a turbo b18 and make 350-400 WHP

Hey bro im from ep also so if you get this thing going i would love to see it run in person. You could be after all the first person in the work to have a k series in a 3g. Plus it would put any of the local shops on the map i bet so i dont think you would be turn down. By the way which shop do you plan on having this done?

SVS is whom I have talked to the most about it and they seem to be the most open to it.

i myself have thought a K series would be a nice swap. they are current and are getting pretty easy to find for not much more than some B series. never gave it a thought about its height demensions, so K20 it is then for best fit? i plan on getting another car and keeping the 3gee for a project of some sort. i may grow tired of the A20, but then again parts are cheap and its a reliable engine when built right. also i wanted to stay with a 2 liter just because. there's a few shops around here that do really good clean engine swaps, recently a lot of K series. mainly into civics and what not. so i dont see why not into a 3gee. might have to price a swap here where i am. this would be a bit down the road when i have money for such a swap. also i'm finding a lot of people from around my area with wrecked cars with K series or projects that cant be completed and are selling engines for fairly cheap. so that may be in my favor.

take it to the same shop as chase if your project is still a ways off. i'm pretty sure his will be done by then, so you'll know that these people will at least have seen the car before and have many of the kinks worked out or at least theories to make it go better the second time around.

tobad you wernt near me, i'd love to work on somthing like that.

the knowledge i gained from doing my b18 swap with pretty much just building materials is going to come in handy for future swaps, experience is everything.

i mean the swap is entirely feasible. it's just big money.

known problems:

tall motor - no hood EVER, or make a custom cowl.
header - custom, firewall modification
shifter - gotta hack the firewall and interior console, to run the rsx/civSi shifter
mounts - completely custom, or hack up some EF/CRX mounts possibly

then it's just down to wiring and the most important part, about 10 grand to get it all done. the only real downfall to this is that its balls out expensive and i would say the majority of people that own a 3G don't have deep enough pockets for it. i sure as hell don't, but if i did i would already have a K20 3G. originality has been tossed to the wind for convenience. but that's not me.

It can Be done for about $5500-7000, minus the cost of the motor and Transmission and all that.

So you mean 5.5-7k total?
What is so different about a k vs a b?
Mounts, wiring, axles, basically everything, needs to be fabricated either way. It sure as f doesn't cost 5.5-7k to drop in a b. The k is just a little more wiring, a different shifter setup, and a hydraulic clutch.
If I had all the parts and a little extra money, I could drop that into my car easily.
Do you still have the k20?

^ yes I have the K20Z1... Im tracking down a K24 block for it and building the bottom end... when/if I feel froggy and we get some sort of engine management for the FG2 that motor is going into my Si... Or if for some reason the K20Z3 in my Si lets go I will swap in the parts from the Z1..
