not bad, not bad at all. looks like you got a nice little project going there. and from the looks of it, you'll be redoing part of it once that rust spreads again. other than that, it's not bad at all. showing nice promise.

Your bondo is over a few rust spots and is kind of heavy in places as well which means more work sanding, and the thicker layers like to crack.

If you're not doing any metal repair work, I would just get that rust out any way you can before it spreads and then clean and primer and repaint, no way you're going to get a nice job with just bondo. And bondo doesn't stop the rust.

no disrespect, but the filler looks like buzzards shit all over your car. you should smooth it out while it's still not hardened. much eaisier to work with, then all the excess. go to eastwood.com and look at their rust converter. get all your rust down to bare metal, then treat it with it. it's designed to seal the rust permantly and will stop it. :)

Thanks Snoopy I like to see you finally give me a good comment lol, I dont think the rust will spread again if it does it wont be very fast, its stored in climate controlled storage in the winter.

I know bondo doesnt stop the rust but its a temp job for now. Money is short. I know its heavy in places, I didnt have a bondo spreader but I do now so it will be alot easier. sanding is a bitch but it will be work, I plan to do and grind off the thick bondo. thanks for the input.

...buzzards... lmao

I was going to say something about all that but I figured he would figure it out on his own, eventually.
I have had pretty good results with the ONE STEP aerosol cans that come from the parts houses. If you prep the areas good, it does an amazing job. I had a Nova with rust on the quarter panels rusted thru so bad under the ex-vinyl roof mouldings, you could put your hand thru. I wire brushed the edges and trimmed off the largest free standing pieces, and used ONE STEP. then ground back just short of the treated area so the fiberglass resin could bond. I glassed it all in, taped news paper behind it just to support the fiberlglass till it set up. That car held up about five years with no cracks or problems with rust bubbles, the car got sold after five years.

Last time I checked, slapping bondo over rust isn't going to work. But hey, we all need to learn some how. At least you have drive & ambition on it.

Thanks, I have alot of drive and ambition. I am new to motor work and body work. I may run a shop but thats my partners specialty. I am more in the parts and accessories and styling. I am learning on my own but I am going to be attending Lincoln tech in IN , in the fall so I should learn alot more.

It's definately going to be a temporary repair because it takes approximately 1½-2 years before the rust starts showing up again with a repair like that, no matter if you sandblast it or not because those rear wheel arches are so rusted at the inside that it wont matter. Giving it a new paintjob without fixing that rust properly is a waste of money. And big dents are not supposed to be removed by filling them with bondo, you straighten them out first, so you wont have to use a layer of bondo thicker than maximum 2mm and maybe a bit more depending on what kind of bondo you're using.
