lack of power, poor acceleration, sputtering

my 89 lxi has poor acceleration, sputtering, poor idle. The ecu is throwing a code 7 which i think is the throttle position sensor. This is all accompanied by poor gas mileage. WTF is wrong with this car ? Would the throttle position sensor cause all this ? I put half a tank of super unleaded in it and it still acts the same. PLEASE HELP !

The TPS can cause all of those symptoms.

well well, None of the parts stores carry just the throttle position sensor.
The sensor is riveted to the throttle body. I picked a throttle body up at the J/Y. Put new spark plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor and voila !!! She runs perfect !!!

Isn't it great when you fix something like that, and .....you're....not....quite....sure....if you got it or not. Then you fire it up and ....IT'S BACK! A great feeling indeed.
