Okay, so yesterday I was driving home from running some errands, and when I shifted gears from either first to second or second to third the car kinda lurched and made a loud clunk. :wtf: It has never done this before, and now every time I start going from a light, or I shift from first to second, or second to third, the car makes that loud clunk and lurches a little bit. It doesn't do it if I'm going about about 35-40, and it doesn't do it if I'm shifting to a lower gear. Any ideas of what it could be? I recently did a tune up on it (replaced distributor cap, oil, spark plugs, didn't need to replace wires because they looked brand new.)

It doesn't sound like an engine problem to me. Check your mounts.

I looked around the forum first to be sure, and that's what I came up with too, but I wasn't sure and thought I'd ask anyway. any chance that I could get a picture or diagram of the engine mounts?

edit: almost forgot to thank you for the quick answer.

No problem. Asking questions saves money, and there's no way that's idiotic.:)

close, it's as soon as I step on the gas out of first that it clunks.

#10 is the bracket that bolts to the transmission, #3 is the actual mount. It's easiest to remove the bracket to get it out. You made me remember something though. When I removed the bracket, one of the bolts that go into the tranny was missing and the other two were loose, so check those as well.

Make sure you buy Honda mounts if you need to replace them and make sure you tighten them down in the proper sequence which can be found in the on-line manual.

ive had a case where every singlemount was snapped, the only way to find out is to take each mount out until you find which one it is, but yeah as accordepicenter says.. check that dog bone mount 1st. a car i bought didnt have one and in turn it fucked the other 2 front and rear mounts :O
