Well I have had a Carbon Fiber APR Canard laying around, and figured i would make some templates and make some for the 3gee.

What they look like on other cars.

Fast small photoshop of them in a darker color. (will prob be made out of aluminum.)

Im not a master of photoshop so these are in the wrong perspective, but you get the idea.

hey man i like how lately theres been alot of fresh Ideas from alot of people and you with 5th gen map sensor have been at the fore front. Keep up the great work now you just have to have a Windtunnel and a dyno.

I'm curious your canards are bigger on the leading edge and smaller on the trailing next to the body. I know it's probabley for aerodynamic reasons but it looks kinda ugly but will it work as well if it's reversed. Also have you ever thought about placing those small canards on the top of roof as the Evolution's

unless you have a windtunel at your disposal i would say you are just gonna create more drag man

Thanks man, yeah I've been trying to come up with a lot of things that are free or at least cheap. About the canard shape, I'm just going off of the APR one. I still have to add the other pieces to the canard, and these are just test templates. About the roof ones probably not, but I'm thinking about a front diffuser.

Dont have a windtunnel. About the drag though, of course they wont be angles as bad as they are in the last pic if thats what youre talking about...because I cant make the perspective work on those in ps. I actually want them almost straight to the body. I'm basing these off of the APR design, and even if they dont work...I think they'll look good....and it will make me proud that I made something.

a rear difuser (sp) would do more good

get that air flowing!

they would only come in handy when you reach more than like 100 miles per hour. other than that they look cool....tell us if you feel a diff. anything helps i guess.

lol a nice way to keep that super torquey engine and tires down on the ground  Well fellas this is all we have cause we have FWD lol spoilers don't really do anything for us.

^ Yeah I will let yo know when I finally get them made. ZackieDarko I was going to do that as well, but from a couple sources I have read last night, on a car thats not really going to be circuit raced, or raced continually at high speeds they said the rear diffuser was pretty much useless. Plus our car is fwd.Other sources have said it is useful even at lower speed driving. Im looking for proof one was or the other. Another link with some basic info.

IMO that that will look cool if you get a lip of some sort to make the bumper look lower

and also i am really glad your keeping the 86-87 bumper :D

I think those are ment to be installed on fiberglass or CF bumpers... not Plastic ones unless you have extra support for them. You don't want them to bend in the wind.

What about a lip spoiler, then you can catch some air and send it up into the engine bay for cooling. I'd hang it off the metal bumper though, no sense hanging it off the plastic bumper cover or else it might pull on it low enough to scrape the ground.

honestly though unless you're using it for racing the accord you're just adding drag that will eat more gas.

BS

Downforce is good at high speeds no matter what dive type you have, it's to keep all 4 wheel planted to the ground to make high speed driving/cornering.

It's not just for the drive wheels

You could make a diffuser... rip out the gas tank and rear bumper and build up some contoured sheet metal from the rear passenger foot well to the back under the lights
Also removing the tank would allow you to run your exhaust straight back reducing pipe length, weight, bends.
You'd then need a fuel cell perhaps as a new tank.

If you don't remove the tank and just run sheet metal over it you'll be trapping in a lot of heat and may have fuel related problems down the road.

More than likely Im not doing a rear diffuser anyway, but I might think about it. Right now its way too much work. The front canards will be bolted to the bumper with 3 bolts on each one, and besides them being alum. they will probably have alum backing on the side like the apr one. So they shouldnt bend, the lip spoiler I wil probably do later on, but soon to come is a home depot lip!. :)

lets see some progress on this idea. i think it would be neat to finish this and see what your results are.

As soon as I get some aluminum sheeting, it will be done.

It's not the canard you should be worried about bending. It's the flexible urethane bumper you're bolting it to.

If it can hold my ass when I sit on it, be able to push a car...and run into something and not be hurt by it. im not too worried about the bumper bending trust me.
