Power Steering Question

I have a 1988 Accord LX 4-door caburated, and i need to know if there is a way to tell whether the power steering shaft has 1 flat side or 2 flat sides...without having to remove the existing one.

Which shaft are you referring to? The pinion shaft, the rack, or something else?

I think he is asking if the pinion shaft will only install one way into the universal joint. It is not indexed, have fun.

If you are talking about the pump, all that I have pulled have had only one notched side.
