When I first got the car, it had 18s on it. My brother had put these on. I also painted the drum and Calipers Silver but quickly got tired of the rims and the paint.

Alright after riding a while on the 18s, and after a trip to the mountains it was time for them to come off. So back to stock alloys. Also got the Magnaflow muffler put on since the stock muffler had a hole in it. Also had my headunit from my truck and some subs in the car....got tired of the subs as well., and sold them.

this is gooood stuff, brb .. going to pop some corn

it is good to know the story of the wheels, I was so close to buying some identical to those 18z, but decided it was too much metal too close to the asphalt.. need more rubber and less suspended weight for that to work. In other words, lowered car and tighter spwings.. lol
wonder what happened to Estimated ?

those wheels you have now are so complicated looking, nice though. but from a glance look like S-10 steelies .. no offense, now that i know what they are I appreciate the look.. more pics? more story...

Why did you make so many cuts?

You could have cut it like this and made the longer piece shorter to attach the bypass and kept the battery up front.

Looks good mushroom, just make sure you get a heavier battery cab;e when you get a chance and I believe since your battery is the acid type you will need to vent it to the outside to prevent fumes from building up

mushroom_toy
10-05-2007, 07:30 PM
^Who said I didnt like fumes:flash: No really though its gonna be done a lot better later on, once I get my battery box and some other stuff. For now the 4 guage is perfect and not affecting anything. Things are like they were when I switch on accesories etc.

^Bitesize I actually moved my intake and shortened it a bit. Plus I was wanting to relocate mt battery anyway. Makes the engine bay just so much cleaner. Also got my bypass valve to fit properly. Also sanded the paint off since it wasnt going to stay on anyway, and its now just plain, but I kind of like it better. Pics coming after I take some daytime shots.

Oh yeah also the reason mine has so many cuts is because i have to route it in between the auto shifter cable and the brake line of course.

I just used an old belt cut it into two small sections wrapped that around the pipe, then put the rubber coupling from the valve on top of that. Works like a charm!

Are they factory mr2 wheels? I don't think they are, but I know the center bore is smaller so factory mr2 wheels don't work on 3geez. I tried putting my dad's supercharged mr2 wheels on my old sedan and it was a definite 'no go.'

^ Love the way the gauges are set up. Like I said its just temporary, maybe although I do like where mine is located now, and its was simple to install using the srt4 housing that came with it. Oh and here are pics of it installed and working/lit. Yes I know I have a boost gauge in a car with no boost....yet, but hey it can always read vacuum.! Also I can actually see it quite well whille driving, its out of the way of the steering column and i can see it good, so it may stay who knows. Anyway on with the pics.

mushroom_toy
10-20-2007, 06:59 PM
Alright onto my problem. Well this has been happening for a looong time now and its slowly been driving me nuts. Whenever I turn my light on at night, when I press the brake the lights will dim, but only every once in 4-5 tries. Like say I wait a minute then press the brakes again..it will dim. Also when all light are on, and I put on a turn signal, the gear selector light will dim to the speed of the signals flash. This has been happening since I got the car, thats how I know its not my battery setup, or any of the work I have done. The headlights are Sylvania Silverstars, but I dont see how that would be the problem. I have checked all grounds, and even cleaned the contacts on the tailight circuit boxes, trying to fix this problem. Also tightened the alt belt. Here are what I think it might be, or what im going to tackle next:

Do the Headlight big wire upgrade?
Go to the scrapyard and get a 4g or legend alt?
Run new alt power wire?
etc.?

Im kinda stumped as to what it is, so Im looking at it being my alt. This one was a used alt. put in before I got the car, because the other alt. died when my brother had the car. Also if I do get another alt from the jy and rebuild it, which one would be the best one to use in terms of easy of install/mods for it to work? The 4g, legen or other?

In a straight line. Probably. Also what year model? The VR6s engines were based on inline 6s, if you didnt know that. ANd Its also .8L HIGHER THAN OUT CAR! No shit its gonna be faster in a straight line, like compaing apples and oranges, its almost a 3 liter. And that is based on old models, then newer models are 2.9l or up i believe.

Anyway I didnt say my car was straight in a fast line.

well his vr6 is is a 2.8 or something with like 240hp....my car is better than a stock 3gee and even with suspension some 2nd gen tegs around here still have better suspensions because i saw this guy take an exit at least at 70mph...i can only take it at like 50 with the wheels squealing. so thats why i ordered sway bars.

well his vr6 is is a 2.8 or something with like 240hp....my car is better than a stock 3gee and even with suspension some 2nd gen tegs around here still have better suspensions because i saw this guy take an exit at least at 70mph...i can only take it at like 50 with the wheels squealing. so thats why i ordered sway bars.

If you dont have a rear bar that could be the reason, but besides that I dont see what the prob. is. I can corner fast and I have no problems. I did when my tires were slick though. Maybe its just because im used to driving in the mountains my whole life. My suspension is pretty much stock, besides vigor bar and endlinks, rear strut tower bar, front strut tower bar.

i do have a rear stock sway bar. but i noticed that the lx-i is a bit heavyer than my dx because on my dx its lighter with a rear sway bar and it corners a bit better...but then its slow on the straights. i had a altima try to pass me yesterday....i gave my car a good 2nd gear pull...but the guy was still behind me. oh well....i need a damn engine rebuild with like 11:1 compression and being able to rev to like 8k....something like 150whp.

some of those roads up there, the best squirrely ones are that hard rock imbedded asphalt. You will eat up some tires if you are driving like a rabid squirrel :kekeke:
I like the ones that follow the rivers, plenty of stop off places.

If those wheels are not 15" you wont be able to upgrade the brakes, they wont clear the caliper. Not a big deal though.

They were crappy Futura Super Sport GLH IIs, but they were on the wheels when I got them, so I only replaced fornt when I needed, they handled good until they were slick.

Get some real tires, and then maybe let's talk about awesomesauce handling.

Shitty tires= shitty handling.

Pick up some rs2's or azenis and see how that works out.

How was the hub fitment? Is it close to honda hub size, or is it a lot bigger? Do you have a lot of vibration from the bmw wheels if it is bigger, and not hubcentric?

Bones

Actually .. now that y'all mention it, I've never thought to check.

When I mount up a wheel, I tighten each lug by hand, working my way around several times before ever breaking out a lug wrench. That way nothing gets cranked down off center. One of my wheels is a little bit bent on the inside edge too, but I've never had any noticable wobble or shimmy from the wheels.

If the wheel is balanced correctly you won't have a problem. One of my wheels is bent and is balanced and everything is fine.

If the wheel is balanced correctly you won't have a problem. One of my wheels is bent and is balanced and everything is fine.

That is the wrong assumption. :) Non Hubcentric wheels balanced or not will usually make a difference, even if it is so slight you cant feel it. With stocks on my ride is much smoother and less jarring, but with the nonhubcentric paoline alloys I have, i get a rougher ride. Also considering the tire profile is smaller.

Many hubcentric rims do NOT use the conical tapered lugnuts. My Toyotas do not. The lugs end up being a sleeve that fits in the rim's hole. The rim is held to the hub by only a clamping force.

And if I do not an aftermarket (non-hubcentric) rim, I will get a bad shimmy at speeds above 60mph. What is funny, is I can "fix" it by retorquing the rims on or taking them off and do anything with them, but within 5-10 miles of driving, it's back.

That tells me the rim is moving, even if so very slightly.
-From SCCAForums.com

Anyway though if the mesh wheels i get are a bigger hubbore, guess ill look for some hub rings, to maybe fix it, cause i dont want any wobble, or the slightest bit of vibration.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v28/JubeiMunchCurry/ResizeWizard-6-39.jpg

Ok so here is some info.

Pros: They were free, they are the most gorgeous wheels ever, they fit and are same lug pattern.

Cons: Tires are all bad, Theyre still pretty dirty, so i need to deep clean them lol, 2 Have small bends in the back sides of them (they hold air thuogh, and roll straight), I need new centercaps, Unfortunately the hub size on the wheels is a fraction smaller than the Honda hub size if you can see in the pic, so Ill have to get them bored out a tiny tiny bit, and I thnk two of them need to be refinished or at least the lip polished.

Besides that they are truly wheels that are works of art anfd I love them.

Oh yeah also they are MSW Wheels made By O.Z they are 4x100 6x14 with a 38 offset.

Cheers.

Hey, a little known "secret" by some... if you have windows xp, there is a movie maker program that you can use to make slideshows with your pictures. It is not listed under the programs menu for some reason. You go to windows explorer, program files, it is there. It looks like a pretty cool toy esp if you have a lot of pictures.

my rear ST doesn't make much noise, if any -- but the end links do on occasion pop into and out of place... usually that only happens when the suspension has been unloaded when its jacked off the ground.

Theres 2 bolts on either side under the car lol that bolt to the frame. you have to take the 2 off under the car on either side, and the rear bumper with cover just slides right off.

Ooof Man I would just run to the nearest pick n pull and grab a new non-rusty support, that one needs alot of work.

Yeah unfortunately cant fix the rust today its windy as crap outside so no easy way to spray paint. Also unfortunately I dont have the money for a bumper support right now lol, or else I would already be at the Junkyard. XD

Thanks lol.

On another not anyoen know how to check timing without a timeing light? I think when I changed my seal I might have accidently retarted my timing a little. My powerband moved 0.o....It feels faster....just different.

theres really no way to check it, you can do it by ear by playing with the dizzy but i dont think thats a good fix. if you want i have a craftsman timeing light that has been hardly used that i will sell for cheep if your interested

Eh I dont have any money lol. Its running good, I just want to make sure my timing is right, I think I might have retarted it when I changed my cam seal, because my powerband changed, and my car feels faster...

three things you do not want>>> preignition (pinging), high draw starting(acts just like a half dead battery) dieseling (continues to run after you shut it off)
all of those are caused by over advanced ign timing>>>
retarded timing will just make you run rich, sluggish, and powerband moves up the rpm scale a bit (sometimes overheating can be caused by either over or under advanced)
Take all of that into consideration when you do this, just loosen up the dizzy and let the car idle.. note the position of the bolts in reference to the slotted opening(s).. move the dizzy in the direction of advancing . Move it a little at a time and test drive it, you will notice immediatly a crispier response to the throttle, but... look for any of the symtoms in the first paragraph, if any of those exist you need to retard it just a tiny bit until it stops those symptoms.
It is really not that hard, I know it is scary but if you pay close attention to having NO AUDIBLE preignition.. you will fine. If you do have pinging, you can use premium fuel as long as it is not constant pinging.. reap the benefits of using less throttle opening to obtain rpm and power.
Preignition will burn a hole in your pistons, damage head, head gaskets, valves, valve seats.... Unless you run WOT all the time you should be ok, I have not see a Honda yet that did not like a wee bit more ign advance than factory specs.

Well I think mine is retarted then, cause my powerband moved a bit.

Well guys got a good bit of work done yesterday and today. I still have two small rust spots under neath the taillight skin bottoms, but I can take care of them with the bumper on, so Im not fooling with them till maybe next week. Here are pics of some miracle goop that I bought called rust converter....I have to say I am amazed and it worked great. Afterwards I primered and painted for now. Hopefully this will last until way on down the road till I get my car painted. I decided to salvage my bumper as well until I get some money to get a new one. It should hold up for a long time to come though now. Sure does look like it though! ON TO THE PICS...UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE (COUGH cHEESE COUGH) WHO LIKE TO KEEP PEOPLE IN MISERY!

The miracel stuff:

After rust was lightly sanded, and the stuff was applied and allowed to cure for over 24 hours.

omg, superman x ray vison, dude you need to do some pictures of Jenifer Garner. no but seriously..
that was wicked cool ..
that was some serious rust, I dont know how you will keep the trunk striker adjusted, mine isnt even rusted and it keeps going out of wack, I bend it back.. lol
WTF is up with that muffler, did it rust that fast, I thought you just put it on less than a year ago.
Something else that works miracles on rust, is a spray can called ONE STEP, it turns surface rust into primer, I have used it with great success on other cars.NICE WORK dude.

Appreciate it man. Yeah the muffler come off another car before I got it and that was where the hangar was..Stupid rust lol. Oh well dont really care about that part that much as my pre pipe after the cat is rusted at the flange and has an eraser size hole in it so I have an exhaust leak now. Doh. Oh and on my car the striker area is not rusted just that little piece right before it, I ripped all of the brittle medal from that area so only metal that is stable is there, the rust didnt get to the striker area thank god. Mine stays in place fine lol. Yeah I saw the spray stuff but this was 2 bucks cheaper at the parts store and I like the idea of brushing it on since I didnt want it to get everywhere since this stuff discolors regular paint. Thanks for the props man we really got to meet up someday, I want to see your car. XD

the rust converter crap is some good stuff for a cheep quick fix (not for long term) i just did the entire underbody of my cutty with a spray can version then hit it with 2 coats of flat black to try and lengthen the life of my rusting underbody lol

^Actually I think it might be cheaper and more long erm that a quick fix lol. I did sand away what rust I could on the car, then after the converter did 2 coats primer and 2 coats color. Well see I guess.

well yeah i guess on some aplications... your rust wasnt that bad.. i think its only a temp fix for my cutlass... lol it will slow the rust way down though. it just really matters how far gone it is before you catch it. wich you cought it early in its stages
