hey there
Cheers for the remarks.
the panel work looks better in the pics, is 20 years old after all.
same with the leather.
dont have climate or digi dash.
Dont like the digi dashs anyway.
had to loose the air con to put the headers on.
Ran it on a dyno and makes 105hp at the wheels.
gettin a bit tired i think.
Sounded mean as hell tho at 6500rpm.
as far as i know it has mild mugen cams and chip.
Egr disabled as well.
Interior just needs a dam gd clean

Sorry carotman
headers are by autobend in chrisrchurch, new zealand.
cost me $200

blacktop b20a for the loooooooooose get a gold top hahahaha. anyways thats a nice car, aint seen a 2.0Si in the fixed headlight format before, let alone a exclusive 2.0Si. The interior does need a clean out but thats what happens when your cars your daily driver. you would prolly spew if you saw my car currently. full of rubbish, shit everywhere, one of my doors doesnt have a skin on it and my stereos hanging out.

Whys steve got the pics of ur car for anyways???

Did you get those extractors custom made?? are the tuned for the engine?? My mates got a guide on tuning the runner lengths for power where you want it and im going to get custom ones made for peak power at 6500rpm

105whp? i wdnt know what a stock b20a should put out whats your 0 to 100km/h time?? mines 6.5 - 7 seconds depending on the air temperature. and my engines stock and tired......

i missed that^^^^^

yeah feel free to post it to me!

if you wanna know that u have mugen cams take your crank sensor or dizzy off and look at the ends of the cams. they should have the lift and duration printed on them i think. definately pull up your seat and take the lid of your ECU and get a pic of whats inside it.

otherwise you cant really tell. your cars 5 speed aye.. i cant see a kickdown cable coming off the bracket so it must be... did you convert it

Hauntd ca3
10-02-2007, 09:58 AM
Will try have alook at the cams in the weekend. ditto for the ecu.
I know the guy who sold me the car and he worked as a salesman at the local honda dealer for years.
He suspected that it was fiddled with in japan before it came here.
just he way it drives and dosnt wind up until 5000rpm, it dont bother me whats n it. have blown up two left side cv's so it must have some decent power.
I didnt give it 100% throtte on the dyno which is fifty years old and not terribly accurate.
Cam belt is due to be replaced and is few thousand kays overdue for a service.
Better safe than sorry.
headers are just an off the shelf item for a gen 3 prelude si.
stevesi posted them for me cause i'm a complete idiot when it comes to this
fangled internet thingee, gimme an engine/car to play with anyday

Oh ok. That's what I got too. The front pipe needs to be modified and the flange a bit too in order to fit. I wan wondering if it was an actual item made for the Accord.

my car likes blowing right side CVs. I have a BA1 lude axle in mine currently cause the last one died. but they only die when u abuse them.
give ur car a tune up and then dyno it :):) Dont let messy have more whp than you in his a20a :P thats shame on every b20a owner on the board :O :P

Yeah i did convert it from an auto, mite also explian lack of power.
Not sure if honda detune them for the auto tranny.
As for the headers, I had to lose the air con because the hugh pressure line from it would have run straight thru number one primary tube.
Didnt have to mod anything else tho.
i think i mite have hurt it on its dyno run tho.
When i finished,It stalled and was abitch to restart.
Possible crown seizure but i hope not.
jUST REMEMBERED, the god damn fuckin mechanic who done the last cam belt fucked up the cam timing. Cant remember if he fixed it but will check it this weekend.
I remember seeing two sets of timing marks when i snapped the last belt
and the factory ones didnt line up but the other set did.
bloody idiots some of them are.

AccordB20A
10-04-2007, 09:43 PM
the ecu is different in the gold tops. i even noticed the power increase when I swapped to a manual ecu from the dumb auto one i had been using forever. im sure there may be some difference in the cams as my auto b20a that had a manual engine on it ran like shit till i swapped the cams for some out of an auto then it worked better. but being a blacktop yeah i dunno i dont specialise in blacktop b20as aparently they are less powerfull and therefore ftl.

you snapped a belt? hope the engine wasnt running at the time otherwise the valves will be bent and letting air in when it shudnt be. i agree when mechanics do cambelts they allways seem to be one tooth out at least on one of the pulleys, i do all mine myself now. its awesome having the knowhow can do :D

as we all know, doing up a car is all in the small detail and the leg work.
yes it duz look a bit sad under all the parts, but they only there coz i had a booze up in the weekend and needed somewhere to put all the bits instead of having a garage covered in parts for drunk people to stand on. its not like i mind if the paint gets scratched at the mo eh.

you can see there will have to be a small manifold made so they will fit and a relocation or deletion of the engine stabiliser.

not perfect but nothing a short manifold wont fix.
the injectors are 12 ohms ones so will be bypassing the injector resistor, modding the tps to fit ,and since the blacktop runs map sensor, the toyota manifold is set up for going straight to the factory honda map.
just got to figure out how to work an engine stabiliser

Hauntd ca3

this is a copy of the 4age gasket with the b20a one over the top. you can see the diff in the bits coloured in with sharpie. this is one reason for needing to make a short manifold.http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq140/h4untdca3/quads3003.jpg
the other reason is that the toyota manifold wont get closer to the head than the end of the mani studs, and the fact that those thin wee grooves you see come one from each runner and meet up at the rubber hose at the top for the map sensor. the holes on the other side of the injector cut out are for the pcv hook up. one end of teh manifold is going to be the same as the honda flange and the other will be the same as the toyota on. am going to port the injector cut outs as much as possible , just because they are going to be a couple inches further away from the valve head than i would prefer.http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq140/h4untdca3/quads3007.jpg

dropped off the itbs and the remains of the honda manifold off at the fab shop today, should have a working manifold back in a day or so.
talked to the local microtech ecu agent today, and since its programmed to run an evo motor and use mitsi sensors, i'll have to have it sent back to the manufacturer for reprogramming to accept the honda sensors etc because of the diff signals. thats gunna cost me a couple hundy but is still cheaper than buying the nz made equivilent ecu.

yeah , there are the odd woodie bottle round eh.
i do enjoy a drink while winding down in the garage, and beer makes me bloat.
the microtech is pretty small eh.
duz heaps tho
will do sequential injector fire, sequential 4 coil set up, anti lag, launch control, flat shifter, vtec control, boost control up to 28 psi, injector pulse width in 100th of a millisecond intervals.............
and te fact that its only 2 years old, not 20 odd, modern electronics are great for being so small.
i think i could prob fit the whole ecu in the mystery black box with no worries.
on a shitty note, the fab shop wanted like $600 to mod my manifold to suit the itbs. ummm not fuckin likely i thinks.
so i went and bought a die grinder for match porting it all up, and i will be getting the welding and machining done through one of our out work suppliers at work for a quarter of the price.
might take a wee bit longer but will still get done soon.
am going to try and start wiring in the microtech loom into the honda in the weekend i hope

nah, its staying its standard, or as close to standard as the paint guy could match it .
thats just the name in the resene santano book

its so close that you'd be hard pressed to pick the diff.

they arnt working yet, still have the ecu, injectors and tps to wire up,a few coolant hoses to delete and fuel and a couple other lines to sort out.
but i spose for all intents and purposes they are pretty much ready to go.
i only filled up the oem injector holes coz where the injectors would be is where the port spacings are the same, and also because the toyota injectors are 270cc and were with the manifold.
the itbs are a complete manifold and all set up off a toyota AE111 levin.
4AGE 20 valve black top motor.
the black top and silver top differ a wee bit.
the black top have 46mm throttle bodies and run a map sensor where the silver top are 44mm throttles and run an air flow meter.
it was a simple choice really, and for $200 bucks, a no brainer.
grand total, excluding the ecu is $350 nzd on the motor.

even with the trumpets and filters on, i prob still have 6 or 8 inches to the fir wall.
to tell the truth, i'm absolutely fuckin wrapped that its turned out like it has.
i looked at it as an experiment that might have cost me a few hundy if it didnt work out. and as luck would have it, its worked out well so far.

i could have made the leads for less $$ but for $70 it wasnt worth fucking around

thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated!
gives me motivation.

oh yeah, matt and aaron, will a gold top bolt straight in place of the black top? no mods at all?

i have a microtech standalone fuel nd ign ecu to run it all.
am going to have to trailer it 2 hours up the road as there is no one in my home town that i would trust to tune it.
gong to keep the factory distributor and coil. will be using the toyota injectors, just coz they are heaps big enough for my needs.
i think for the small outlay, i'm going to get the gold top as it only has 90k on it.
it will prob go in at a slightly later date since i am going to do a mild port job and stick some bigger cams in it. i know i'll have to retune for new cams but since the base mapping will be done from using the black top, it shouldnt take to long

guaynabo89

it dosnt look to hard to wire in which is a bonus.

soooooOOoOoo have you got the engine running yet?

Hauntd ca3
01-10-2011, 01:05 AM
nah its not running yet.
still have to wire in the microtech, injectors and tps, make up some fuel lines and put the tit on the throttle cable yet.
but just put the itbs on for the final time, sorted the vac hose for the booster and cam cover breather .
had to shorten the throttle cable by about 2 feet so it looks right and works properly.
am in the middle of painting the house, so am only getting maybe an hour a night on the honda
and that dont go far doing a bit here and a bit there eh

AccordB20A
01-10-2011, 01:30 AM
thats cool at least its getting some time haha. i shd get my ass into gear and get my cylinder head rebuild

Hauntd ca3
01-12-2011, 01:25 AM
got the throttle cable finshed and on the car tonight.
with some minor tweeking of the pedal height i have full opening of the throttles!
no binding of the cable or linkages on the itbs.
my brother asked me if i can have the car finished for his wedding in november, so i have some work to be done.
watch this space

A18A
01-12-2011, 01:55 AM
awesome. did you get your microtech all reprogrammed and stuff or whatever it was that needed to be done?

Hauntd ca3
01-12-2011, 09:50 PM
still have tosend the microtec away, have been trying to do that all week, but have been to dam busy at work.
have been eating lunch while i work, its so busy.
organised the injector and tps plugs today, pick them up tomorrow b ut wont have a chance to put them on till next week.
have tires sorted out, the dunlop direzza dz101s that are on my SiR.
have organised the help for sanding filler and putting the car back together once painted.
just thought today that i have to convert the alt regulator to a 3 pin or a 2 pin plug since the microtec dosnt drive the fr or c teminals.
might run mine up at work tomorrow with out the fr and c teminals connected to see what happens.
its amazing how much motivation you get when your brother wants your car for his wedding.
also need a headlight and a rear brake caliper if anyone can help

A18A
01-12-2011, 10:13 PM
don't lose your motivation lol. I has rear brake calipers too

AccordB20A
01-13-2011, 12:55 AM
the alternator will work fine with the 4 pin regulator just dont hook up the 4th wire, has allways worked for me, but if you want to swap it anyways any old obd0 engine honda reg will work

Hauntd ca3
01-13-2011, 01:32 AM
yeah, but which one.
the fr or the c pin?
being in the trade that i am, i have access to heaps of diff regs.
if i can find a reg that fits and that have just ign, light an sense pins i'm sweet as.
also found on the shelf at work full of exchange units. there is a number matching B20a alt.
handy for a spare me thinks

AccordB20A
01-13-2011, 04:38 PM
i carry spare regs in the car with me now cause they like to fuck out haha. it must be just old regs dieing cause ive had one i got from a b16a alternator in my car and tis been good for ages.

the 4 wires that go to the alt are white/green which is the sence wire, white/blue which is the light black/yellow which is ign power for some windings in it and white/red for the ecu

Hauntd ca3
01-25-2011, 12:59 AM
i found a toyota reg thats a perfect fit in the honda alt.
its a light, ign, sence type 3 pin and is all of $80 genuine denso.
requires a change of plug to suit but should work fine.
will post the denso number tomorrow.
been busy tonight.
have the exhaust and heat sheilding off so can do some undersealing.
and a trying to get the dash out coz there is a wee bit or rust at the top drivers side guard mount that requires the dash out to fix properly.
am hunting for screws now.
have got all the easy ones, now is the hard to find/get at screws and bolts

Hauntd ca3
01-26-2011, 12:58 AM
why are honda such wankers as to hide a bolt behind to clock in the dash?
took me an hour and 3 beers to suss that one!
but have the dash out, and half the heater trying to find that last bolt.
checked out the main relay while i was there and its good as, but will still resolder it while its out.
just got to get the MIG from work and a bit of panel steel and the rust repairing can begin!

AccordB20A
01-26-2011, 02:05 AM
haha all hondas have one dash bolt up there, some behind a vent, clock etc but theres allways one there. glad u found it, these dash's are easy to remove when uve done it 120 times

Hauntd ca3
02-01-2011, 12:20 AM
got teh gas tank out tonight so i can finish the undersealing during the week.
good to see there is no rust under there, and the inside of the tank isnt all that bad either.
i guess having 15 liters of petrol in it and not being out in the elements helped keep the rust at bay.
back under tomorrow with the wire brush to get all the dirt nd crap off i spose.
would post pics, but have run out of broadband and am back to fail up connection :(

A18A
02-01-2011, 01:11 AM

Hauntd ca3
03-20-2011, 11:30 PM
have all the rust cut out and patches all made up.
just need to grab the MIG from work and will be done on that front.
with some help from my brother i might still be able to paint at easter.
have been tidying up the wheels and they are ready for painting and then fit the direzza's from the SiR on them.
have bout 2 ft of the underside to underseal and can put the tank, rear susp and exhaust back in.
still waiting for a rear caliper tho.
progress at last!
oh, and found some headlights for it for 160 for the pair.
so i have a spare passenger side one

at last i've started work on the old girl .
have just been doing some filler work, cleaning up some trim bits, started to wire the microtech, a bit more undersealing, new alt to batt cabling.
have about 5 minutes welding to finish the rust repair work.
still waiting for a rear brake caliper and a pcv valve tho.
will start running stereo cabling this weekend with any luck as well, depending on what else i get done during the week.

unfortunately there has been no work for a month now, is a bit hard to get motivation when its -2 degrees in the garage at night . now its warming up a bit some more will happen.
have just caught up with an old school mate who is a gun welder and will do the rest of the rust repairs for a toyota motor and gearbox i have lying round.
dont think it will be finished by november, but wife is 3 months so want to have it finished for the new kids ride home

Hauntd ca3
09-20-2011, 09:55 PM
work is finally starting up again now the weather has turned good.
have a bunch of wee bits at work that i'm bead blasting and painting.
have finished undersealing the rear half of the car and have the rear suspension back in.
have some 13 inch alloys of my brothers old nissan sentra on it so i can finish stripping and painting my 15's and so that the 15's dont get paint on them when i finally get round to painting it.
just have to wait a few weeks til the guy doing the rust repairs has some room in his garage.
have removed the remains of the evap emmissions set up and have the hose hook up for the itbs sorted.
just need to make some fuel lines and they are finished.
am just plodding away on wee thing til the rust is done and can finish the panel and paint.
will get some pics up later in the week.

Hauntd ca3

righto, since today was quiet at work, i pulled my front shocks to bits.
bead blasted and painted the fork bits at the bottom, cleaned up the springs a bit and put it all back together with some nice new shocks.
the best part is, the thread on the shock shaft is longer than the oem ones, so they pulled up nearly half an inch shorter, a bit extra lowness for free!
also pulled on of the front calipers to bits for new seals etc, andfound the pistons are nice and pit mark free, no rust in the bores and not even a rip in the dust seals.
will pull the other to bits tomorrow and get a seal kit ordered.
sorry no pics, camera is flat and cant find the charger
work still continues albeit slowly, but it is still moving along

am now on the 3rd attempt at getting that bit above the honda badge right.
would buy another bonnet, but have no money so have to fix what i have.

AccordB20A
01-24-2012, 05:24 AM
is there a dent there? mine has one there too and other places from being taken away by the wind one night. good to see your still at it!

Hauntd ca3
01-24-2012, 08:52 PM
yeah there is a dent there, from some arse hole pushing down to shut the bonnet to hard.
the rest of the bonnet is flat as and looking good.
and bar the bonnet and 2 other wee dents, all i have to do is sand it down and i can prime the whole car

Hauntd ca3
02-05-2012, 01:07 AM
sorry, no picks this time but they would be a waste of time.
with any luck, i'll be blowing some primer on the shell tomorrow.
spent most of the arvo and evening til now finishing of the final few wee annoying dents and have spent the last few hours wet sanding it all down ready for the gun tomorrow.
so with any luck i'll have a primed up shell tomorrow night and the colour on the shell next weekend.

after a long period of no work on the old girl due to boss having secondary cancer and having to work stupid hours to compensate for being one trades man down, finishing the last couple exams in my trade cert ( yay , am now officially qualified ) painting the house etc i've finally started work on the girl again.
have had to redo the right rear due to sitting to long without paint on it, surface rust was starting to show through the thin bits of filler.
keep giving me a hard time guys so i will get stuff done instead of playing with my other new toy.

you could build a motor like that for less than 10k ahaha

Hauntd ca3
03-01-2013, 01:31 AM
could do a motor that wont idle for free eh!lol
i miss my bikes, i want more guns but they are harder to hide from the wife, also want 200whp N/A B20a .
pulling the motor would give me an excuse to repaint the engine bay and hide some wiring etc...
just dont want to blow up a rare as fuck b2k5.

tried looking for an lsd,no one wants to split a box for one. all want at least 2k for a box, so that puts paid to that idea for the mean time.
also, had a talk to a cam shop today, 272/264 regrind, 350+gst and 160+gst for springs. not to bad.
just waitng to here back from engine shop bout price on pistons, rings etc etc.
found big injectors, 2jzturbo items are a straight swap for the black top ones in the itbs, 440cc so no lean out problems there eh.
righto back to the garage

Dr_Snooz
03-05-2013, 12:35 PM
Are you looking for a used lsd from a scrapyard?

Hauntd ca3
03-07-2013, 09:47 PM
yeah, i have ben talking to a wrecker that we use at work. no one wants to part with just a diff which sort of sucks.
on another note, pulled the head of the old girl last night, because i am going to give it a freshen up.
honda cant do me pistons in first over size, and because of there daft parts program, cant give me a price on b16a pistons cause i dont have a vin to look up a part number.
a local engine builder wants 1500 dollar for a set of wiseco forgies, to which i told him to get bent.
can any of you yanks give me an idea on price and availablity on .020 over pistons?
i did see some srp forgies for b18a/b on the net for bout 500usd which sound ok to me.

yeah, still round.
just wait til you have 3 kids and a mortgage man, cars come down the list a bit.
for some peace , i've taken up hunting to get away from life.
cant hide from the wife and kids in a garage eh
still plodding along on the old girl.
waiting for some skim coat filler to turn up for all the imperfections in the body.
got some 2k primer ready to seal the body work.
had a guy sort the bonnet out so she's pretty dam straight.
but, now its winter , the garage is bloody cold( tis southland after all) so the multi fuel gets more attention than the car
motor and gear box are out, motor off for a measure up prob next week to decide on how far i need to bore it.
head is clean as and just waiting for new valves and springs to arrive so can put it back together.
also, b18a head gasket, same as b20a or no ?
if so, jap race supplies have gasket sets for like 250 bucks.
is great if they same, just charge it to work account
have guy organised to tune it on the dyno at SIT
he's a tuner thats decided to go teaching, so that cuts the $$ per hour for tuning in half.
and my wife works at SIT so may get it cheaper still.
and he's a microtech approved tuner to boot which makes it even better

found some thing nasty while at work today.
pulled the sump and girdle off and found big arse flakes of what looks like copper or brass in the sump.
got the rods and pistons out and looked at the bearings, all good. buggered but not the source of the flakes.
am thinking i may have a spun main. hope like hell there is no crank or block damage. will find out tomorrow i spose.
pistons are going in the bin and prob the rods as well since they are pretty bloody weedy looking and dont know if they'll hold up terribly well past 200hp.
but since found some h23 h beams for stuff all, they will prob be history

AccordB20A
06-09-2013, 10:39 PM
