Well first off i have 89 lxi with a20a1 block. First off i just replaced fast idle valve, newer plugs and wires, newer cap and rotor, and it gots a cold air intake.
When i try to start it up i have to give it about 1/4 throttle and it takes a good 10 seconds to start, then it will idle at about 750 and after a while of driving it will most of the time will go up to 1500 idle and it has done this warmed up and not warmed up. i adjusted the screw right at the top of the throttle body all the way down and it stopped my car from having idle surges. I would like to now why it wont idle at 750. And then my car runs like complete ass from idle to about 3000 rpm, sometimes it will miss and backfire and as soon as i hit 3000 it just takes off and and drives normal. and the timing is right. My last problem is there is a whisting sound coming out of the throttle body when i apply little throttle. Im stumped on all of these and have been trying to fix them for a month or so, any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like a ECT sensor.

definately a sensor it sounds like. i was going to say maybe a throttal posisiton sensor being that the problem seems to be between idle to 3000 rpms. at higher rpms does it seem to be just fine? and are there any trouble codes being flashed by the led on the computer box under the seat? dunno if you've check that or would even know how to read the flashes.

On the thermostat housing. It is the smaller of the 2 wire sensors and is black.

You count the flashes, then look what the number you counted means in the EFI section.

Dont want to thread hijack here, but does that include jdm/nzdm, theres an amp under my passenger seat (left side) and the only controller under the drivers is for the automatic door locks im pretty sure, its a 89/90 lx carbed a20a2, so maybe it dosent apply to me (im guessing so because thers no place for a fuse in my ecu afaik, just want to know cause im planning on getting a wrecked 2.0si and swapping over all the good bits
