Hey guys..its been a while since i posted here, but im back from ausi and i got a quick question...i did a carb to efi conversion last yr. When i put the dash back i didnt know where one cable for the centre vents wen so i left it loose...now i realize that in the winter its horrible cause the cold comes straight through no matter what! so it gets kinda breezy :P Below is picture of what im talking about. My question is where does the cable connect to??? I cant seem to find the pot behind the dash :S Thanks!

Does the cold air come in when you are driving or standing still? If it is coming through when you are driving them i get that too. Does your heater work?

yea cold air is coming while im driving in the winter...hot air in the summer...so i just want it closed. But it would be nice to hook up that cable since it is just hanging right now. Yes my heater works. When it is on and im driving in the winter i have to put it on vent then heat will come from those 2 vents but with a mix of cold air while im driving.

It's directly above the lower left corner, where the glove box meets the dash. You shouldn't need to remove anything. It is the flat lever, furthest from the firewall. Be sure to clip the cable sheath when it's in the closed position, with the lever on the housing bottomed the correct way.

I've noticed that, even with the lever closing the vent to the outside, in the winter enough cold air leaks through to make things uncomfortable. I've always assumed that some kind of seal on the vent door was old and leaking, so about Jan 1 (I live in CT) I put a couple of pieces of 3M clear packaging tape across the whole center vent. I looks ok, and makes a big difference when the temps are in the 20's. It comes off in March/April.

I've always assumed the fix for this is a lot of work. Am I right? Thx.

With the lever on the vents in the down position, try pushing the outer lever in the picture in, towards the center of the dash. If there is movement, pry the clip down and remove the cable. Move the cable sheath further back and hold against the clip. Check for movement again with the vent lever down. When you are satisfied, pry the clip down and push the sheath into place. It fixed my problem, I'm sure it would at least help yours.
