View Full Version : Got a new bumper :D

It's from a 1988 Accord CA, so it came with the crazy bumper lights that include a park light.

Unfortunately this means no more OEM fogs, lip or bumper pole! The lip on these bumpers is much thinner.

The condidtion is great though, once painted silver it will look good as new :D

old lip might not fit exactly right since it's the newer bumper but it'd still be worth trying :D

if yours is like the usdm with the two steel brackets attached to the bumper, i just ran a a piece of square aluminum all the way across between the two brackets, then mounted all four lights to that aluminum bar,it fits right up into the grill area, you might have to trim some of the plastic grill bars, but it should fit.

Well the sides of the lip are too short, so it just doesn't look right. Guess I'll be needing that Integra lip. The folding fogs won't have enough room to retract their covers, so I could just take the covers off. But tbh i'd rather put new fogs there and sell off the folding fogs.

The car I got it off had mint folding mirrors, grey with chrome trim and also mint Accord CA side markers.

You guys say it's the 89 teg lip? Is your 89 a pop up light teg or the later DA fixed headlight?

I'll fix your problem with the fogs, just sell them to me.

Can't wait to see the new bumper painted and installed.

yeah its the 89 teg with flip ups, you will also need a few items from the hard ware store such as new bolts and nylon spacers, 1/2 inch spacers seems to get it siteing very well

I would REALLY like it if you would be willing to get really good measurements for the fog light brackets. I know a LOT of us want a set. We have a member here willing to reproduce them parts if they have measurements.

If someone draws some lines on these pics, I can measure them up. This is the left side one.

If I sell the fogs, I'll make another thread about them with some close up pics. One has cracks in the casing which would probably need to be sealed up. Not visible when they are on the car.

They are motorized.

Best for JDM wank value tbh lol. Not exactly great if you want a super bright fog-pearcing light.

Wow looks good! Brand new out of the bubble wrap. Did you have to pay extra for the paint or do they sell oem colors on the bumpers over there?

Man, that bumper looks NICE!

How hard is it to remove and install a bumper and it looks good all lined up? I've been thinking about doing mine myself, but I don't want to screw it up.

the ca style ones are a pain in the arse to find
ones for the pop up headlight models were easy but for the fixed light models
it was a nother story

I ended up with CA ones by accident. They are slightly cracked, but not actually broken. Will replace them with mint standard facelift lights when I find some.

Not hard at all. I took mine off myself and put it back on myself and it all lined up perfectly. Takes a bit of time and patience to get the bumper to sit even on both sides and line up with the fenders but its easy.

I got that exact same lip on mine. You're right, it's rather thin but the trained eye can sure make the difference. (you can even see it in my avatar so it's not THAT thin)

yeah thats why i installed one plus it makes the front end look 1 inch lower the the ground...but my lowered car makes the front bumper scrape on steep driveways
