take a look and tell me what you think. What is it, and why the hell was it added to the car?

you can just barely see wire that it's spliced into near the top of the pick. the green one.

Ideas? My card died and wouldn't start as soon as I removed it, so I put it back on.
the green wire goes to something plugged in on the back of the carb.

Thats probably the fix of someone that blew a fuse. Check the fuses... That wire goes to that anti dieseling solenoid on the back doesnt it. It needs power at all times so it looks like they stole ignition from by the coil to put it there instead.

hmm...
I'll check the fuses, but I think they're all good. could this be part of the problem as to why my car idles so rough. I noticed it got a little better right before it died.

edit: yep they're all fine

the car shd idle fine when there is power to the solenoid. if theres no power to it it will idle like shit/not at all

it died when there wasn't power. It might have just been my imagination that it ran better. since the fuses are fine any thoughts as to why it won't work without the spliced power?

I'll take a look tomorrow. I'm still trying to get this stupid thing to pass emissions. I definitely need to put a weber in this thing before next year. damn this carb. :gun:

I don't think you can pass emissions with a weber.

you have to lean out the mixture and retard the timing a lot, but yes it should pass. my dad had one on his celica and it passed no problem.
