k... for some reason my car stays at idle 2. dude. i was cruising around last night and out of the blue my engine starts smokin... next thing u know i hear the motor dying out and it started making clinking sounds. so i slowed down a lil bit and when i hit 45 something popped. n my car died. anyone know what the problem is?

i bought a new radiator and installed it. for some reason my fan doesnt wanna turn on. and when i was viewing it this morning i noticed that one of the wires was broken off of my distributor. is this a bad sign? after... i did more viewing and i noticed that right below the engine head theres oil or some light brown liquid.

here are pics of my problems... can u help me decide on what to buy next?

yup thats why it idles so high. and it looks like you need to replace the valve cover gasket...i picked mine up from honda for 9 bucks.

I think you may have blown your headgasket but i could be wrong. As for the distributor, thats just a vacuum line for the timing advance. Fan not coming on could be the fan dead, or the thermoswitch isn't working.

If you are referring the high idle to the advance diaphragm vacuum hose being broken, then i believe you are incorrect. When mine had a leak, the idle was rough.

There is a thermo-sensor on the bottom of the radiator. If that sensor is bad, it will keep the fans from coming on. (DVM & boiling water is a test for continuity at the right temp.)

Replace the valve cover gasket with what you can afford. Fel-Pro to OEM in to what your pocket book needs.

The idle thing can be a lot of things, depends on EFI or carbed.

from what i can tell is hes carbed

and yes that is a vacuum line not a wire

and as far as rebuilding goes its ogna cost some serious cash i mean u can do a basic rebuild and have it running with about 1k or so
or u can go full route and spend 2k plus like my self lol but im also doing and efi swap as well

That all depends on if you provide valve stem seals & what you have done. If you have a shop do it all, anywhere from $150 on up to around $225. Depends on where you live too. Most of the cost is re-seating the valves, checking spring tension & re-surfacing the head if it's needed. (any parts that need re-placed)
