... that my Hatch gets dropped! Well I finally ordered my new suspension components, and they arrived today! I decided to go with Tokico HP struts, and Neuspeed 1.5in drop springs. If all goes as planned, I should be able to have this done by tomorrow. Anything in particular I should know before attempting this? I have never had to do a strut/spring replacement before, So I just planned on following the Manual on this one.

Anyways, here are some pics of the stuff I got!

Sir....you are going to like that set up......Cuz i love mine....at first it may seam a lil high but then the first 500 miles then its going to settle down a bit more.

hope your bolts are not rusted...my pitchfork got striped real bad..i still got to change it because a bolt and nut is holding my suspension together.

if not come to the pico shop and i can get some of you guys to help me part out my parts car.

Yeah I agree on the nicer feel of that setup. It'll feel like a factory upgrade or the way the Accord should have come from the factory. It wont be super handling but throw on some sway bars if you havent got em and youll definately love the ride.

Hey........ Have you ever thought of maybe painting your rims center star gloss black? I think I would complement the car well. Im bored as hell so I did this cheap paint version for you.

Good set up. I have almost the same set up, accept with H&R's (I believe there a taaad stiffer, I could be wrong though).

Anyway, the one thing you have a good chance of running into one or more of your bolts might be fused to the forks. I didn't want to risk stripping or breaking of any kind, and for that reason, I took it to my mechanic to have it installed. And sure enough, my rear left bolt was fused via rust and I know I wouldn't have been able to take it off, I'd have to replace to whole piece. It was $265 for the install, but well worth it in my opinion.

Catalyst

Well after about 6 hours of working on it by myself, the new suspension is finally on!! It looks, and feels great! I haven't had a chance to go try it in some twisties yet, but it felt so much smoother and nicer on the highway. This is the biggest, most involved job I've ever done on a car to date, but I didn't run into any major problems, and the spring compressors didn't take my legs off so it's all good! I'll go for a photoshoot first thing in the morning.

Thanks for all the comments, and thanks to this entire forum for giving me the knowledge and inspiration needed to do this myself!

I bought the hatch from my sister, who had bought it from a really old couple for $1200. It was in MINT condition. About 2 weeks after owning it, my sister wrecked it, totaled the whole front end. Of course, she didn't want anything to do with the car anymore, so I bought it from her wrecked for $1000. All it needed was a hood, front bumper, all the front lights, headlight buckets, grill, and it was set. So I headed off to pick n pull the next day and got all the parts I needed, and put it back together. So yeah, the car was garage - kept by a really old couple, thats why it's nice and clean.

Here is what It looked like when i bought it. It has been almost a year since then.

A year later..

I'm pretty sure the hatch already has sway bars.. Didn't the LXi models come with sway bars? I'm pretty sure I saw some under there. :)

yeah they do have front and rear bars but I'm talking about upgrading to thicker ones with polyurethane bushings. Like the Suspension Techniques or Adco ones.

With a set of those you'll be able to take those 25mph highway on/off ramps at like 60 and the car wont lean. of course good tires to keep you on the road are a must for those manuevers though. lol

Good job with the install man. Sometimes its good to do it yourself so you "know" the car, and I feel like when I did my suspension, I learned so much about the supension of the car. Your car looks beautiful with the drop man.

The drop looks good but I don't like the black spray paint on the corners. I think some Jdm ones will flow better. Did you get any camber kits?? I think a 1.5 inch drop effects camber if I'm not mistaken

1.5" drop shoudn't need much camber correction. I've got the Tokico/H&R setup myself. The front of my car could use a little bit of correction, but the back end looks almost straight up. The front could probably be corrected with nothing more than a Prelude upper arm setup.

Yeah there is quite a bit of Negative Camber on the front, off by 3.5 degrees I think the alignment guy said. Once I find a set, Ill buy some prelude upper control arms and slap those on there along with new ball joints and I should be set. The rear isn't bad like the front.

I loooooove this setup, the car is 10x more fun to drive now. :)

Yeah I'll get it aligned after I put on some prelude arms. I took it to my alignment guy right after I did it so he could see if there was anything he could do with it, and he said everything was fine except for the camber, which he could no adjust. So I need those arms.

so i agree the black bumpers look tons better than the body color ones on my Lxi white hatchy. Is it an easy task to krylon the bumpers or would you rather have had the dx black bumpers? Will the kylon stick to the side moulding also? Ive got some polished rims with black centers already about to go on my hatch. I see a trend here.

It is very easy indeed to paint the bumpers. I decided to be lazy and not remove them *Note this is also easily done*, rather I just masked off the car, and used Visquene plastic sheeting to cover the car from overspray, cleaned the bumpers thouroughly using Acetone, and 3M adhesive remover, sprayed the bumpers with about 5 coats of Krylon Fusion Gloss Black paint, and it was good to go the next morning. I also painted the side mouldings with the Krylon Fusion paint, and it is still holding up nicely to this day.
