just bought my first car its a 1984 Honda Accord 5 speed 1.8l 3bbl about a few weeks ago. i got the car for $460 but some guy jumped over the hood and i got an estimate for $300 and im making him pay. in the trunk i found a rebuild carb, water pump, alternator, fuel filters, hatch struts, fuel pump, 3 sets of wires and a set of rims and tires. The car has a brand new clutch, wheel bearing, e-brake cable, both lower control arms, and im putting in a new wheel hub tomorrow. all the work has been done by me or by the help of others. the interior is completely gutted, there is no dash, carpet or anything just metal. pretty big sized holes. ill get some more pictures tomorrow. these are old pictures. there are currently patches in the floor from previous owner.
i do have the front grille

That is a signature tailpipe right there! You know you can get all that sound insulation off the floorboards with some dry ice! A few people on here have done it.

Grocery store would work. Baskin Robbins sells it too. Any place that makes ice cream cakes will usually use dry ice to transport it. :)
LilMike,
Congrats on your 2GEE purchase. You'll remember this car for the rest of your life. Treat it well, it's your freedom for the moment.

Always remember that the metal must be absolutely clean and free of rust. Honda actually has this basecoat that looks like metal, but is actually still grey paint. When it's shiny, you can weld. Also, with all the undercoat on these cars, expect fire. Having a wire brush handy is a must (to wipe it off when it goes up) and having a CO2 fire extinguisher nearby isn't a bad idea.

Since you're at school and looks like you have your back seat out, cut the brake line off inside the cab, flare it and add a union. Then run that out to your bracket and hose. Also, just replace your rear cylinders. Chances are, they're toast, and they're cheap. Pack your bleed screws and behind the flare nut on lines with anti-seize. Just don't get it in fluid affected areas, as it's petroleum based.

alright sorry for the late update guys i got the floor complete and seam sealed it and sprayed the whole floor with rocker guard. i put the dash back in with my new head unit i got for Christmas. i got it fired up but there is a leak on the carb and none of the accessory items work so ill have to look over my wiring tomorrow. tomorrow hopefully i will fix the brake lines look over the wiring and put the carpet back in. i will get pictures tomorrow of the floor before it gets covered. I finnaly got to try out gas when i was welding and i dont think i can go back its so much cleaner, easier, and harder to burn through.
the carb is leaking from where the red is circled it obviously only leaks when the engine is on its coming from the screw or something anyone have any idea why?

alright ill have to post some of the pictures tomorrow, i finished the rear drums with new lines, wheel cylinders, shoes and hardware. i also got the carpet in today everything is going together smoothly. my driver seat was so messed up, the frame inside the old seat i guess broke and it would stab you and had huge rips in it. atleast i found a few bucks in the seat :). so instead of using that crappy worn out stock seat i will using a 1992 rx-7 seat in it, that my teacher found in a dumpster and gave it too me. the seat is in amazing condition. i made a seat frame got that done and it feels really nice in the car. so hopefully tomorrow the interior will be completely in.

Aah. My welding teacher told me he's seen windows shatter out from splatter. When I was welding the roof rack on my Bronco II (with the huge curved side windows) he suggested I cover it with cardboard. Seemed to do the trick. Sounds like you didn't have that problem though...

I've ruined a few windows from welding spatter, it seems to just dig right into the glass and stay there. Grinding dust will do it too.

i guess i was really lucky because my windows came out really good. i scrapped them with a metal scrapper that was sharp and it removed all the metal bits then i polished the window using metal polish and they look almost new agian.

New ones aren't too expensive to have installed. You can DIY with a junkyard windshield, but unless you're really good with that glue, you may get leaks. Call around some local shops, usually about $140 in my experience... I'm sure someone can get one for your car.

Probably not a DIY project unless you really have skills. $250 to replace if the mobile guys do it is my guess. Make sure it doesn't leak after they're done!

Man that rustproofing stuff looks good. What did you use? Same stuff as before? You're really tempting me to do the same thing while my interior is out... My floorpan isn't really rusty, but yeah can't hurt to do some preventative maintenance!

John, the first stuff i used originally was rockerguard and i sprayed it on with a shutz gun this time around i just used flat black rust paint and painted it on with a brush, it actually came out good surprisingly how crappy it went on. it takes about an hour or so do paint it but it takes days to try completely.
and thanks for the other comments :)

Lil Mike
06-03-2009, 07:38 PM
well my first idea was to paint it black but that means i need perfffect body work, but i have decided to go with a silver/grey in the same range of original or maybe with a 2 tone silver/grey top half and black at the trim line down.

I rented a Pontiac G8 this weekend. It was a really cool color. Kinda along the lines of what you're thinking. It was a DARK charcoal with a nice metal flake to it, almost black. You ought to look up the paint color, or try to get a sample of it and see what you think. I think it would look really cool on your car.

long time no update, driven the car 3000km so far no problems, have a header otw, and some carbs. i had one of my buddys help rebuild the transmission since the input shaft bearing was on its way out, so i did a complete overhaul of the tranny, the place i ordered the bearings off of didnt have the EZ listed so i just hoped that the ES2 was the same and it was.
while the transmission was out i noticed i could poke my finger through the oil pan so i bought a new one for 50 bucks for the ES2 and it fit my EZ engine sweeeeet.
right now im working on a gauge set for the center console. ill post pictures up in a few minutes.
edit: nvm phone died.

I was looking through my JDM catalog, and they show a 2gee in it with a 1600 motor, which I bet is identical to yours. It's rated at 94hp @ 5800RPM and 98lb-ft of torque at 3500RPM. I wonder if it's actually the same motor or not. But I wouldn't be surprised, have you ever found any Canadian catalogs for the Accord that show the actual specs?
