Here's my VIN Number: JHMBA544XGCXXXXXX
Is it rare that my car was built in Saltama Japan and imported, rather than built in the US Ohio plant?

Four Doors were made in Japan, The USA, & Canada (I own a Ohio Made 1986)
Hatchbacks Were made in Japan Only
And Coupes Were made in the USA Only, but even exported to Japan
All 3rd Gen Accords With a Vin That starts with 1HG are made in America
All 3rd Gen Accords With a Vin That Starts With JHM Are Made in Japan
All 3rd Gen Accords With a Vin That starts with 2HG are made in Canada
In my experience I've Seen just as many Japan Made Sedans as USA Made Sedans
So No it's not really rare, but it's cool to know that your car was built in japan and that it was imported :D

there was an assembly plant at nelson in nz but dunno what the vin prefix was
they only assembled hondas for the nz market so none were exported
dont know where mine was made
the build plate has E-CA3 on it
then under that is the ca3=122*** chassis number
and the engine number after that
I'm guessing that the E is for where it was built

Honda Changed the codes in 1987
It Changed From BA5 to CA5, just like the BS changed to A20A1 and the BT Changed to A20A3

I have a USDM accord but ive owned a bunch of Japanese built accords, in my experience the japanese built ones have a little higher initial quality with the way everything fits and sounds/performs but the US built ones seem to hold up a little better, especially with rust

My car was also made in Japan. It's been almost all the way around the world, because it was made in Japan, bought in Germany, and now (obviously) driven in America.

mine is so jdm i found a lionel richie cassette with japanese writing when i opened up the plastic panels in the hatch. i still have it put up somewhere around here. oh and toothpicks wrapped in paper with japanese writing that were dropped into different areas of the car. i must have had a snacker on final assembly.
