I am considering upgrading the wheels and suspension.

P.S, The hood ornament is from the 500k 3GEE.

Thanks,

I was not happy about it being a DX automatic, but the condition of the car makes up for its shortcomings.

This car was truly a garage kept, and dealer maintained 3GEE. The interior is perfect, right down to the original radio!

You are definately right, CAH...I mean DarkAccord :)

Hovever, I am 6'1" and 255lbs. It is difficult enough getting in and out of this thing. I'm afraid to lower it. I might blow a knee out while exiting.

I still have the S2000, so this one is just for cheap transportation. I feel lucky to have found this car. It is very enjoyable to drive and It will make a great first car for my neice (15yrs old).

wow, that's definitely one of the cleanest 3g accords i've ever seen, especially here in socal. many of them get raped by the sun...

I did wax it. I used meguire's carnuba liquid (3rd step).

It only takes about a half an hour to wax this car, so I will do it every time I wash it. It's all I can do to try to protect it from the salt (ocaen spray) at my place.

I bought this car specifically because of where I live, however I will put forth every effort to keep it looking good.

Clean looking DX. I have 88 DX coupe, the only real pain I've had is the carburetor wanting to idle up crazy. (since then fixed) Looking to get a weber soon & do away with 100 foot of vacuum lines.

Wow and I thought mine was a clean 3G when I got it all detailed up. Yours is breathtakingly clean, almost like looking at pics of when it came home from the dealership almost 20 year ago. Congrats on a hell of a find. :welcome:

Thank you everyone for all of the nice comments. I am still kicking myself for buying another carb'd car, but i tell myself that its condition makes up for it. Or does it? The car has recently showed signs of carb issues. This morning, the idle wouldn't drop below 1200 rpm's 'til the car was driven for approx 20 miles. Then this afternoon, the idle was very low and the car was loping. Now, it's fine again...ohh what fun. I am currently sifting through many, many posts regarding these issues.

When I bought the car, the mileage was 126,205.

Now, 9 days later, there are 127,623 miles. 1400ish miles from me already.

I have a feeling that this car either sat for long periods of time, or was used for many short trips. I figured 6700 miles a year from the prev owner. This may haunt me as I am using this car to commute 220 miles ( @3200rpm's) round trip.

Don't get me wrong, I like this car, but I bought it because the prev Accord served my family for 19 years and many, many miles. This DX has big shoes to fill.

Thanks again for the compliments,

Matt

Carbs typically have issues with these Accords after almost 20 years. That is just how it is. Most carbs need a rebuild or other things link vacuum lines to thermo-sensors. It just takes a trained eye to know what is needed. Good luck.

perfect car to swap to fuel injection of a weber..but when smog comes along you might have to pay the extra bucks

RamThis
11-13-2007, 05:38 PM
yeah a fuel injection swap would eliminate all those problems. Would put the car down for a while though....

How in the hell do you get into your S2000 when your that big???

mbc
11-20-2007, 07:50 PM
You should know (because you own one too)

The S2000's doors are longer, allowing more room to get in, so entry and exit are not difficult. The doors open wider too. The seating position is higher to the ground inside the S2000. The leather helps me slide better too.

The main reason for the difficulty exiting the 3G is due to the lack of support from the seat cushions, they are so spongy, that it feels like I'm sitting on the floor of the car sometimes. My ass doesn't slide well on the fabric, and my knees hit the steering wheel at times. With the seat the way I like it, my head is ligned up with the "B" pillar. Lot's of sacrifices for a car that I really don't need. The coupes are much easier for me (longer doors= no "B" pillar problems), but as you know, Its difficult to find them in decent shape.

I had the opportunity to buy a CB7 coupe a while back, but I didn't want to spend more than $1500 on a temporary car.

I will be driving the S2000 this weekend. The car is stored at a relative's house. That's her Miata next to it, and my work truck in the background.

I'll take a short vid comparing entry and exit if you wish:)

You want difficult ingress/egress? Try getting into a Lotus Elise. That's tough. I'm not particularly tall and I am by no one's standards fat, but that was still a bitch.
