ok i know that the a2k5 tranny from the si lude will fit our a20a motors, but what are the internals like. because i have looking at the gear ratios and it seems like if you take the si lude tranny and swap the second gear from the 85 carb lude, you would have the fastest excelleration combo. and if you want a little more power out 5th gear compared to the stock a20a set up but not too much to ware your wasting gas, take the 5th gear from the carb lude. it's ratio is in betwee the accords and the si. i know all 3 trannies bolt on the a20 but are the internals interchangable. i would like to figure all this out and build a tranny that is designed for top end performance. i dont know just a thought.

Top end performance? What exactly do you mean by that? Do you mean you want to get up to your cars top end quicker, or do you want to get to a higher top end? You'll have to consider the final drive ratios too, and choose one accordingly. The shorter gears will always result in the car feeling faster, and will give your car a better mechanical advantage, though may strangely make your car slower in things like the 1/4 mile.

I have a Prelude tranny in my car, and ALL the gears are shorter due to the final drive. Even on the freeway at around 3400RPM my gas mileage hasn't been affected at all as far as I can tell. I did a drive down to California at around 90MPH which is about 4000RPM, and I still got ~28MPG. If I'm nice, I can still get 30-32MPG on my daily driving. I would guess that it's due to the engine not having to work as hard up hills, or when passing, etc. 5th gear has all the power that I need, making 4th pretty unnecessary on the freeway most of the time...

if you want short gears you will need the 1st gen integra gear set. the final on that ones is 4.2 and the lx-i it is like 4.066 and on the carb the final is 3.8.
