30 cent computer chip

I recently remembered that funstick told me all a jet chip does is advance the timing so I figured out something. The air intake temp sensor works on resistance so I used my handy dandy multi meter and checked the resistance of the sensor cold and hot and found if you plug different resistors in the AIT you can activate your vacume advance.:D :D :D :D

isn't the vacuum advance activated automatically or you want it to be activated all the time ! ?

It's point wold be to keep the vacume advance on whic is all I think the jet chip does.

Why not go even easier to reverse and just run a new hose from the vacuum advance to an always-on vacuum port?

Why don't you just advance the base distributer setting? If you do you'll have to run premium gas to prevent detonation.

You can't have high manifold vacuum all the time... it actually drops to 0" @ WOT... unless your car is in need of a bigger throttle body.

It is on the right side of the thrttle body ooking at the back of the car it is a bit down low. And the reason I thought of this is because I thought it would be fun to play with different resistances.

I think that it is a good idea. The only thing I question is if there is any disadvantages for having it advanced at all times. Doesn't that mean the engine will always be idling high?

Why or when does the engine automatically advance the timing? Sorry for the lame questions but I know nothing about the automatic timing advance. Plus, how does it relate to the Air Intake temp. sensor..

I just took that little air door out thats in the air box that lets cold or hot air into the carb. And I think that messing with the temp sensor won't make the car suck more air in. Our ECU's have a chip that only allows so much air to be sucked into the engine. So that jet chip would increase the air that can be sucked into the engine. :rice:

so don't worry about it. it won't work anyway.

I tried it, it works. Though, it eats up A LOT OF GAS. The car didn't idle high at all. I felt a little gain in power...

so hmm whats the range of resistance? just get a VR knob and mount er in the dash, lol advance your timing manually :-P
