my car was horrific in terms of leaking oil...when i was still in school we put that dye crap in the oil to see where it was leaking from and it was literally seeping THROUGH the oil pan
Quart of oil a day keeps the blown motor away.

yeah well 20 year old gaskets tend to get pretty hard and leaky

oh yes.. i had to take a putty knive and scrape it off of my pan and also around where the pan connects to the motor.. but yeah i also found out that my motor has been rebuilt.. i saw a whole bunch of markings on it that someone had put so they could put it back together..

yeah mine was leaking from the oil pan and i didnt have time to change it out. this prevented me from installing my headers...so i fixed the oil leak and now changed out the headers. and yes you are right the gasket turn into plastic i had to take a special brush to it.

Hope it doesn't leak. Sometimes even replacing the gasket won't stop the leak. I am replacing my pan soon, because after 7 attempts to replace the gasket i came to the realization that the pan is warped.

i use this stuff at work called three bond sealant
its pretty much the same stuff that the factory uses instead of silicon on gaskets or where gaskets arent needed.
it not cheap but its the shit
