I have a 1986 honda prelude JDM b20a race car
it is currently speed goverened to a max of 185kph (redline in 5th should be 231kph)
does anyone kow a way to remove this with out getting the ecu chipped
normally i would just remove the speedo cable (i never see it while racing any way) but the car has an idle control so if the car isnt moving the computer limits it to 4500 rpm. :wtf: were they thinking

if any one knows how to modify the speedo or even what wire goes into the ecu from here please let me know

its inside the tranny thats the problem and its hard to take out, if I were you look for a carbed B18 tranny because that might do the trick, just might someone else might have to confirm this

when I swaped my tranny to a A18 I could go 140mph

check out preludepower.com there is some good info on your car there

from my understanding we only have a rev limiter not a speed limiter.

maybe you need taller gears

we have speed limiters at 180 km/h

there will be a wire going to the ecu for the vehicle speed sensor, Cut it lol

Must be a USDM thing. Jap cars usually only have the speed limiter

thanks
i take it the speed sensor is on the back of the dash where the speedo cablt goes in and wires come out to the speedo
one question is cutting it wont tell the ecu im not moving and turn on the rev limiter for sitting still
cant hurt to try i guess

no speed sensor will turn on the Check Engine Light and the car will not run right. YOu could try an ECU from an 86 or 87 Accord

so would modifying the vss like the picture above with a resistor etc
give the computer a signal for a speed under 180kph and let me go faster

that's weird it doesn't trip the CEL. The ECU knows the engine is under load from the rpm/MAP combo so it expects to see the speed sensor send something.

nzBA1lude, the ECU needs to see pulses. The resistor would just make the pulse more faint but the ECU will still see a pulse.

thats interesting is this only for the B20 then?

lol. just cut wire #18 on the middle plug to ur ecu, Should be a yellow wire

if it gives you an error code, your ecu is different to mine
